Ever since COVID-19 -- the disease that originated in a small market in Wuhan, China -- wreaked havoc on the world, global players in tech have become more cautious about doing business in China.

Many countries already started asking for their facilities to be shifted back to their nation, whereas other manufacturers looked at markets like Thailand and Vietnam and India to manufacture and export goods.

We’ve been already hearing about how Apple is ramping up its production in India and has now started making iPhone 11, alongside iPhone XR. And it looks like Apple’s contract manufacturers are getting more serious about shifting their facilities from China to India.

According to a recent report by TOI, a major contract manufacturer for Apple is shifting six production lines from China to India with a target to export around $5 billion worth of iPhones in India, while simultaneously catering to the Indian market.

The sources in the matter claim that the establishment of the facility could provide employment to around 55,000 Indian workers in just a matter of a year. Moreover, the vendors aren’t simply looking to make only smartphones, but also shift to manufacturing laptops, tablets and other computers in the next few years. This could mean that iPads, MacBooks and even iMacs could get a whole lot cheaper for buyers in India as now Apple won’t have to pay hefty taxes to import the products in India.

The sources reveal that a container load of goods from Apple’s key manufacturer has already arrived in India and is soon to start manufacturing products in India. It’ll join manufacturers Wistron, Pegatron, Foxconn and Samsung to make in India under the incentive scheme lined up by the government.

In a bizarre incident, Kanpur police 'arrested' a goat that was roaming in Beconganj because it was not 'wearing a mask'.

It happened during the last weekend and Beconganj police took the goat to the station in a jeep.

When the owner of the goat learnt that the police had taken it away, he rushed to the police station.

He pleaded with the cops and the police finally let him take back his goat but warned him not to allow the animal to roam on the road.

Circle officer, Anwarganj police station, Saifuddin Beg, however, said that the police had found a youth without a mask, taking the goat along. "When he saw the police, he ran away leaving the goat behind so the policemen brought the goat to the police station. Later, we handed over the goat to its owner," he said.

One of the policemen who had brought the goat admitted that they found a lockdown violation because the goat was without a mask.

"People are now making their dogs wear a mask so why not a goat?" he asked.

The police apparently changed its version after it became the butt of jokes on social media

Hyderabad is 16th most surveilled city in World

Hyderabad: Hyderabad with over three lakh surveillance cameras has been ranked 16th among the top 20 most surveilled cities in the world, according to an annual report published by the UK-based Comparitech, a firm that reviews technology services like VPN, anti-virus and apps.

Interestingly, out of the 20 most surveilled cities, 18 were Chinese cities, with London and Hyderabad being the only cities outside of China to make the top 20.

London took the third place and Hyderabad the 16th. Comparitech researchers collated a number of data resources and reports, including government reports, police websites, and news articles, to get some idea of the number of CCTV cameras in use in 150 major cities across the globe, focusing primarily on public CCTV — cameras used by government entities such as law enforcement.

Hyderabad had 3 lakh CCTV cameras being used to keep tab on a city that has a population of a little over 1 crore. This meant there were 29.99 CCTV cameras per 1,000 people, the report said. The crime index in the city is at 43.46. In a tweet, Director-General of Police M. Mahendar Reddy congratulated all stakeholders and the community for making the city a safe place to live in.

The city of Taiyuan in China was ranked first with 4,65,255 CCTV cameras. Home to 3,891,127 people, the security cameras to population ratio of Taiyuan was at 119.57 CCTV cameras per 1,000 people. The city had a crime index of 51.47.

Naya Rivera, 33, is believed to have accidentally drowned after renting the boat with her four-year-old son at the camping and recreational hotspot around an hour's drive northwest of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles: US officials on Monday found the body of "Glee" actress Naya Rivera in the Californian lake where she drowned last week during a boat trip with her four-year-old son.
Rivera's body was retrieved and an initial examination found no evidence of foul play or su***de, Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub told a press conference.

"We are confident the body we found is that of Naya Rivera," said Ayub, pointing to the location, appearance, clothing and condition of the body.
