While The War of Two Queens by has been drenched in controversy since its release, it was an absolutely game-changer for me. If you think that the world-building in ‘The Crown of Gilded Bones’ was good, it was 100% better in .
The primal lore and all these different beings that the author writes about in terms of their powers, and how these characters all interact with each other is a joy to read. I would say that you NEED to read ‘A Shadow in the Ember’ to get the fool feel of this book.
What started as a series revolving around our main character, Penellaphe “Poppy” Balfour, and her role as the Chosen One is now much bigger than herself. I absolutely enjoyed reading Cas’ POV. It was a much needed reprieve from Poppy’s mental monologues.
If you have enjoyed the previous books in the and like JLA in general, if we consider the turn that this story is taking, there is no reason to believe that one won’t enjoy it, despite everything.
Huge shout out to for late night instagram rant sessions and helping me absorb everything that has happened.
