Cyberabad Police Launch ‘Arrive Alive’ Campaign in Gachibowli to Promote Road Safety

Hyderabad, April 13:
In a bid to curb road accidents and promote safer commuting, the Cyberabad Police on Monday launched the “Arrive Alive” awareness campaign in Gachibowli. The initiative aims to ensure that every road user reaches their destination safely by encouraging responsible driving practices.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh personally attended the program and interacted with two-wheeler riders, pedestrians, and motorists. Addressing the gathering, he stressed that the police do not want to witness bloodshed on roads and that ensuring the safe return of every citizen is their top priority.

He highlighted that wearing helmets is not merely a legal requirement but a crucial life-saving measure. He urged riders to fasten helmet straps properly and emphasized that pillion riders and children above four years must also wear helmets. Similarly, he advised all car occupants, including drivers, to wear seat belts to minimize injuries during accidents.

The Commissioner underscored the importance of defensive driving, stating that even experienced drivers must remain alert and anticipate potential hazards. He also advised wearing reflective clothing during night travel and exercising caution while merging from smaller roads onto main roads.

Strict warnings were issued against overspeeding and drunk driving, with the police vowing stringent action against violators. Pedestrians were encouraged to cross roads carefully at designated points with police assistance.

Dr. Ramesh pointed out that higher speeds increase the severity of accidents and urged motorists to strictly adhere to speed limits, especially near schools, hospitals, and junctions. He also cautioned against driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, calling it “suicidal behavior,” and advised drivers to avoid fatigue by taking breaks every two hours during long journeys.

Heavy vehicle drivers were instructed to stay on the left side of the road and avoid sudden overtaking. The Commissioner concluded by emphasizing that discipline, patience, and courteous behavior among road users can significantly reduce accidents. He also advised against unnecessary honking and stressed maintaining safe distances between vehicles.

The awareness campaign will continue from April 13 to 18, aiming to instill road safety consciousness among the public.

Senior officials, including DCP Ranjan Ratan Kumar, Additional DCP Hanumantha Rao, ACP Chandrasekhar Reddy, along with traffic inspectors and police personnel, participated in the event.
