*Today (Saturday, 12.09.2026), Sri D. Joel Davis, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Hyderabad City, along with Sri Avinash Kumar, IPS, DCP Traffic, Sri A.Ramulu, Additional DCP, Sri S.Mohan Kumar, ACP Traffic, and other senior police officials, inspected all primary routes and access roads ahead of the upcoming Vinayaka Chavithi festival to assess arrangements for devotees visiting the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh.*
*Following the field inspection, Joint CP (Traffic) Sri D. Joel Davis, IPS, addressed the media and issued traffic advisories and guidelines for devotees, motorists, and the general public:*
*Key Highlights & Traffic Guidelines:*
• Darshan Entry Routes (4 Primary Routes):
1. Via Khairatabad Metro Station.
2. Via Dwarka Hotel / Telephone Bhavan side.
3. Via Mint Compound / IMAX Prasad's side.
4. Via the colony/basti route behind the Ganesh idol.
• *Public Transport Advisory:*
o Over 30 lakh devotees are expected to visit during the 10-day festival. Devotees are strongly advised to utilize public transport (Metro, MMTS, and RTC buses) to prevent severe traffic congestion.
o Metro Rail services will operate from 06:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
o In addition to the 2,200 regular RTC buses touching the Khairatabad route daily, special RTC buses are being operated.
• *Peak Hours & Devotee Planning:*
o Heavy crowd influx is anticipated during afternoons, weekends (Saturday & Sunday), and public holidays.
o Since Darshan commences at 06:00 AM daily, devotees are requested to plan their visits between morning and early afternoon to avoid evening rush.
o Devotees are encouraged to visit on weekdays (Monday to Friday) to ensure a smooth Darshan experience.
• *Private Vehicles & Carpooling:*
o Commuters travelling in personal vehicles are requested to adopt carpooling (combining family and friends into a single vehicle) to minimize traffic pressure on surrounding roads.
• *Designated Parking Locations:*
o NTR Marg / IMAX Side: IMAX Ground, HMDA Lake View Parking, and the E-Racing Ground behind NTR Park.
o Necklace Road Side: Maktha Parking on Necklace Road (to be used if primary parking spaces reach full capacity).
o Metro / VV Statue Side: Visweswarayya Bhavan (Devotees parking here must cross the main road).
o Telephone Bhavan Side: Limited parking only.
(Devotees arriving in personal vehicles are advised to prioritize NTR Marg parking areas).
• *Auto, Ola & Uber Pick-up / Drop-off Points:*
o Stopping vehicles to pick up or drop off passengers on the main carriageway between VV Statue, Khairatabad, and Nirankari causes major traffic jams.
o All auto-rickshaw, Ola, and Uber drop-offs and pick-ups must strictly take place at the open ground adjacent to the MMTS Station.
• *Advisory for Metro Passengers:*
o Devotees arriving by Metro must disembark towards the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh side (Pandal side).
o Alighting towards the 'Seven Temples' side forces commuters to cross the main road, disrupting traffic flow. Directional signage, public address systems, and police personnel will be deployed to guide commuters.
• *Traffic Diversions:*
o Regular commuter vehicles will not be allowed towards Rajdoot Lane and Dwarka Hotel; they will be diverted towards Telephone Bhavan.
o Vehicles will not be allowed inside Mint Lane; they will be diverted towards the Secretariat.
o Vehicles passing IMAX Theater will not be allowed towards Bada Ganesh; they will be diverted directly towards Necklace Road or the Khairatabad Flyover.
o Traffic from Rajiv Gandhi Statue towards the Railway Crossing will be diverted directly towards Nirankari.
• *Pedestrian Queues & Barricading:*
o Separate, dedicated queue lines have been set up for entry and exit. Pedestrians will not be permitted to walk on the main vehicle carriageway.
o R&B mesh barricading work is underway. Pedestrian road crossings will only be permitted at designated junction points: Khairatabad Junction, Shadan U-turn, and Nirankari.
• *Bandobast & Police Deployment:*
o Around 500 police personnel, along with pushing teams, are being deployed across major choke points (VV Statue, Rajiv Gandhi Statue, Shadan, Nirankari, Dwarka Hotel, Telephone Bhavan, Iqbal Minar, Telangana Thalli Junction, Secretariat, NTR Marg, and Indira Gandhi Rotary) to ensure smooth traffic movement.
• *Important Notice (Final Date for Darshan):*
o Darshan for Bada Ganesh will conclude on September 23rd.
o There will be NO Darshan permitted on September 24th. Devotees are requested to take note of this schedule.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police appeals to all devotees and citizens to cooperate with the police personnel on duty and follow traffic regulations for a safe and peaceful festival.
