Yogi Adityanath’s 9.5-Year Tenure: UP Government Faces 2027 Poll Test

Development, law and order and welfare delivery likely to dominate the political debate ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has completed around nine-and-a-half years in office, having first taken charge on March 19, 2017. He began his second consecutive term as Chief Minister in March 2022 and remains in office.

As the state moves towards the 2027 Assembly election, the Yogi government is highlighting infrastructure expansion, investment, welfare delivery, law and order and development as key achievements. Recent reports have also highlighted projects in education, irrigation and public distribution.

The Chief Minister has also stepped up constituency-level visits and project launches ahead of the polls, with political messaging increasingly focused on his government's performance and the Opposition.

The graphic asking voters to rate the Yogi government 9.5 out of 10 is an opinion-based political campaign graphic, rather than the result of an independent public survey. The real test of voter sentiment will come with the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Khelo India Dialogue tomorrow through video conferencing. Organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), as part of the National Sports Day 2026 celebrations, the programme will be conducted across the country with participation of youth at two colleges in every district across States and Union Territories.

It will bring together sports, youth leadership, civic responsibility, volunteering, fitness and nation-building on a common platform, providing a direct channel for young people to engage with the country’s sporting ambitions, while ensuring that their ideas and perspectives become part of the continuing conversation on India’s youth and sports ecosystem.

🚆 Indian Railways plans a major capacity upgrade.
The government has announced plans to four-track around 11,000 km of high-density railway routes across 7 major corridors, including Delhi–Howrah, Howrah–Chennai, Mumbai–Delhi, and Delhi–Guwahati.
The goal is to reduce congestion on some of India's busiest rail lines, increase freight and passenger capacity, and strengthen long-term rail infrastructure.
