Hyderabad Deccan's Milad Rally: Historic Procession of Juloos-e-Muhammadi and Display of Sacred Relics “Asaar E Mubarak”
During the Asaf Jahi era, the Juloos-e-Muhammadi (Procession of the Prophet ﷺ) and the celebration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ became an important part of the history of Hyderabad Deccan.
The founder of this procession and the custodian of the sacred relics was Hazrat Masih-uz-Zaman, Masih-ul-Mulk, Luqman-ul-Mulk Sani, Hakim Khusro Shah Nizami Chishti Qadri (RA) – (Founder of Juloos-e-Muhammadi, Royal Physician, attached to the royal court of His Highness Nizam-ul-Mulk VI, and the successor of Hazrat Hakim Nabina Ansari (RH)).
Every year, on the blessed occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ, Hazrat Hakim Khusro Shah Nizami (RA) would organize a grand procession starting from Charminar Charkaman. In this procession, the royal entourage of His Highness the Nizam also took part, accompanying the display of the sacred relics (Asaar-e-Mubarak). The Nizam himself would attend the event. More than 10,000 people participated, making it the first ever Milad procession in the history of Hyderabad.
These photographs belong to those very processions. All these sacred relics and tabarrukaat are still safely preserved with Hazrat Hakim Khusro Shah Nizami’s family who continues, in accordance with the old tradition, to arrange their ziyarat (viewing and veneration) even today.
