Champion Gukesh Dommaraju, World Chess Championship 2024 LIVE Updates: Gukesh D became the youngest world champion in history on Thursday after a Ding Liren blunder in the final game of the world chess championship which came at a time when tiebreaks looked like a very realistic possibility.

With the endgame dragging out into the fifth hour, Ding made a blunder which cost him the game, the match and the crown.

It looked like we were headed into tiebreaks but Gukesh persisted and managed to get Ding to crack. As we have seen in most games at the 2024 World Chess Championship, Ding Liren was trailing on the clock. The world champion had 23 minutes less on the clock after the 23rd move. Gukesh pulled out a couple of opening phase novelties, to ask questions off the world champion.

Allu Arjun, the popular Tollywood actor, was on Friday arrested by the Hyderabad police in connection with the stampede-like incident that occurred during the premiere of his latest film 'Pushpa-2: The Rule' on December 4. Ponnam invites key leaders for unveiling of T’gana Talli statue

Backward Classes Welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar, on behalf of the state govt on Saturday, invited governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union minister G Kishan Reddy, and Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly K. Chandrasekhar Rao for the unveiling of the ‘Telangana Talli' (Mother) statue at 6:05pm on December 9 at the Secretariat.
Ponnam, the in-charge minister for Hyderabad, extended the invitations during separate meetings with the Governor at Raj Bhavan and Kishan Reddy at Dilkusha govt guesthouse. The event is expected to be attended by around one lakh women members of self-help groups.
Later, Ponnam visited KCR's farmhouse in Erravalli to invite the BRS president. Congress govt advisor on protocol issues, Harkara Venugopal, accompanied him. BRS leaders, including former MP Joginpally Santosh Kumar, former MLA Jeevan Reddy, and Vamshidhar Rao, were present to welcome the minister and his delegation.
BRS president KCR also hosted a lunch for Ponnam at his farmhouse, where the two leaders reminisced about their experiences during the Telangana statehood agitation and recalled key developments that took place in Delhi in the run-up to state formation.
Chief secretary A Santhi Kumari reviewed arrangements for the air show to be held over Hussainsagar Lake on Sunday, followed by the unveiling of the Telangana Talli statue on Monday.
Meanwhile, Ponnam Prabhakar also mentioned plans to extend invitations to the Owaisi brothers for the event

YouTuber Faizal Khan not arrested, case against coaching institute’s social media account for spreading false news: Bihar Police

Educator and YouTuber Faizal Khan, popularly known as ‘Khan Sir’ of the well-known Khan Global Studies coaching institute in Patna, has not been arrested, and the coaching institute’s X handle had a “misleading, baseless and provocative” post, the Bihar Police said on Saturday (December 7, 2024). The police have lodged a case against the institute’s X account for allegedly spreading false news.

“This handle has made a misleading post. ‘Khan Sir’ was not arrested or detained by the police. Legal action will be taken against the social media handle of Khan Global Studies coaching institute for propagating fake, baseless and provocative information regarding the ‘arrest’ of Khan Sir,” Anu Kumari, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of the Patna Secretariat Police Station said.

“People associated with the social media handle demanded the release of ‘Khan Sir’ through various posts, when he had not been arrested,”

Congress Promises 400 Units Of Free Electricity If Voted To Power In Delhi

The Congress will provide free electricity up to 400 units a month if it assumes power in Delhi, the party's city chief Devender Yadav said on Tuesday.

Mr Yadav said in a statement that the Congress would also implement strict checks and balances to stop discoms from "looting" consumers with inflated power bills.

The AAP-led Delhi government currently provides free electricity up to 200 units a month.
