A traffic constable on duty in the Banjara Hills area has accused two officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) of assault and abusive behavior. Following the incident, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
According to the information received, traffic constable E. Sreesailam was stopping a car while performing his duty. The constable alleged that the vehicle was coming from a restricted route or the wrong direction. An argument ensued between him and the car's occupants, who were a GHMC Assistant Engineer and an assistant to an Assistant Medical and Health Officer (AMOH).
In his complaint, the constable stated that when he stopped the vehicle and asked them to follow the rules, both officials allegedly misbehaved with him. It is alleged that the officials used abusive language against him, threatened to have him suspended from his job, and later physically assaulted him.
According to the complaint, when the constable attempted to take the individuals to the police station, he was shoved and reportedly kicked. A video related to the incident is also reported to have gone viral on social media.
Based on the constable's complaint, the Banjara Hills police have registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police have summoned both the accused for questioning, and a detailed investigation into the matter is underway.
Police officials stated that further legal action will be taken based on the available evidence once the investigation is complete.
