Today, TV also has become a basic need of man along with food, clothing and shelter. This tells us the tremendous importance man has given to entertainment. And entertainment continues throughout his lifespan. From this, we can see that TV will have its secure place for a long time to come. And when TV has its place, the channels that are telecast in that,meaningelectronic media, will have its secure place too. Moreover, media is by and large insulated from economic recessions. So, this is why media has been and is expanding every single day. As there is a new channel born every month, employment opportunities are aplenty. But not everyone is able to get these opportunities, the key reason being lack of skills. Once you have a gathered a curious news item, reporting is the only way to communicate it to the rest of the world in a fraction of second. How is reporting done? What are the techniques to follow to convey the full details of an event in the limited time? What should be your body language when reporting? What are the technicalities that you should know while reporting? These issues are taken care of by News Reporting.
News Writing
How to convert news items into media vocabulary?
Gathering a news item and reporting it are not sufficient in conveying the full details of a news item to the people. Nobody will understand news if you say in a ‘he came-he conquered-he went’ format. To convert the news item into media vocabulary and at the same time ensuring that such language is understood by common man and to convey the full details of the news come under News Writing. This is also called Script Writing. How should Script Writing be? How is Script Writing done in print media? And how is Script Writing done in electronic media? News Editing
Once a news comes in the form of a script...to see how much matter has come into the script relating to the news item…to see what is necessary…what isunnecessary…to see whether the script is in news format, what more should be added to make it interesting, to see if the script has any language related errors, whether any un-parliamentary or derogatory language was used…News Editing is all about the nitty-gritty.
News Presenting
If a news item has to be conveyed to the world…it should have a form…a sound. Someone has to present it. And such presentation should be done in a well-defined way. To present news in a systematic way is news presenting. Command on the language,thorough knowledge of the subject and general knowledge are the key traits of a News Presenter. How should the facial expressions be, how should the words be pronounced, how should the pauses be taken, how should the body language be…these things can be known through News Presenting.
