Cyberabad Police Busted a Fake Call Center That was Duping People in India and the United States. Nine Individuals Were Arrested for Operating This illegal Call Center From a Rented Villa in Bachupally.

DETAILS OF THE BUST

Targeted Victims: The fake call center targeted unsuspecting victims in India and the US, posing as customer support representatives from reputed financial platforms like PayPal, Geek Squad, and credit card companies.
- *Modus Operandi*: The gang sent phishing emails with helpline numbers. When victims called, the accused used scripted dialogues in English to convince them to install remote access tools like AnyDesk. They then harvested sensitive data like bank credentials.
- *Accused Details*: The nine arrested individuals are from Kolkata, West Bengal. They were lured to Cyberabad with promises of high salaries, commissions, and free accommodation.

- *Multiple headsets*
- *VOIP call setup*

The police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act. Some suspects remain absconding.
