BJP will win in 40 seats in the upcoming 2027 elections: N. Biren Singh, former Chief Minister, Manipur.
Speaking at the “Samvidhan Hatya Diwas - 50 years of Emergency” observation function at Thambal Shanglen (BJP Head office), Imphal yesterday, Singh confidently assured the attendees.
The crowd applauded, followed by laughter. To which Singh replied: “No! I am not kidding, trust me. People have now eventually started to realise and appreciate the kind of issues the BJP has been working on.
Manipur went through a downfall and was abused by the then ruling party Congress, when Indira Gandhi was the Prime minister. While Manipur, originally a princely state was denied of statehood, Nagaland: which was originally just a district in Assam was given statehood.
Manipur was first a part C state, later we became a Union Territory.” He further went to stress that the draconian act AFSPA was also imposed when Congress was in power. Several acts that could break the state were also imposed during their rule, he added.
“We know all of this, yet we choose to stay quiet just because times have been a little tough for us. He further metaphorically said that we have been going through a storm, and have just been trying to save ourselves. But now the time is near for BJP to shine again. We are fully prepared for the upcoming elections.”
He also reiterated that BJP managed to get 2,60,000 votes in the MP election, amid the conflict. The voting percentage had in fact gone up during the conflict, Singh stressed.
