: Black Box of AI 171 Recovered ๐ฆโ๏ธ
The black box of the ill-fated Air India Flight AI 171 has been successfully recovered from the crash site.
๐ What is a Black Box?
Despite the name, a black box is actually bright orange for visibility and consists of two key components:
1.Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) records conversations and sounds in the cockpit.
2. Flight Data Recorder (FDR) โ captures detailed flight parameters like speed, altitude, engine performance, etc.
These devices are crucial for investigators to analyze what went wrong during the flight and understand the cause of the crash.
of Air India flight AI-171, which crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad to London, has been recovered from the rooftop of the BJ Medical College hostel in Meghaninagar.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) located the flight data recorder 28 hours after the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed, killing 241 of the 242 people on board.
The recovered black box will be crucial in determining the cause of the crash, according to the AAIB. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu stated, "This marks an important step forward in the investigation. The recovered data will significantly aid the enquiry."
A full-scale investigation is underway, with over 40 Gujarat government officials assisting the Ministry of Civil Aviation teams. The flight had 230 passengers, 2 pilots, and 10 cabin crew, including victims from several countries. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was among those killed.
The lone survivor, a British-Indian passenger, is receiving treatment at a local hospital.
