|| Canada Travel Advisory: Manipur and Assam on the ‘Avoid’ List

The Government of Canada has issued a fresh travel advisory for India, urging its citizens to exercise extreme caution due to risks of terrorism, militancy, civil unrest, and crime.

The advisory warns against all travel to Jammu and Kashmir—excluding Ladakh—and discourages non-essential travel to the northeastern states of Manipur and Assam, citing insurgent activity. It also flags areas within 10 km of the Pakistan border in Gujarat, Punjab, and Rajasthan as high-risk due to landmines and volatile security conditions.

Canadians are advised to remain vigilant, avoid crowds, and be cautious amid possible anti-Canada protests in Delhi. The notice also highlights flight disruptions in northern and western India. Consular services are currently suspended in Bengaluru, Chandigarh, and Mumbai but continue in New Delhi and through Ottawa’s Emergency Watch and Response Centre.
