I don’t know who needs to hear this… but you can work and successfully breastfeed your baby. 💛
You can clock in, show up, give your all, and still come home to a baby who thrives on your milk. You can pack your pump bag before the sun rises, sneak away on your breaks, and pump in a supply closet, your car, or a lactation room that feels more like a broom closet than a sanctuary, and still be doing it right.
You can miss a session, spill milk, cry over ounces, and still be providing everything your baby needs.
Because working doesn’t mean you have to stop breastfeeding, it just means you deserve support.
That formula ad going around that says women have to work, so “that’s why there’s formula”? It’s missing the truth. Women have always worked. Mothers have always carried the weight… at home, at work, and everywhere in between. The issue isn’t that we work. The issue is that we live in a system that doesn’t make space for us to do both.
You don’t need formula because you work.
You need breaks that honor your time, workplaces that value your role as a mother, and paid leave that reflects the reality of postpartum recovery.
To every mom pumping in her car, hiding in supply closets, rinsing parts in the bathroom sink, or using PTO just to maintain her milk supply, you’re not failing. You’re succeeding in spite of a system that makes it harder than it should be.
This season might not be glamorous. It might look like pumping between charting notes, catching up on emails while massaging your breasts, washing parts at midnight, and labeling milk bags when you should be sleeping. But it’s temporary. And it’s powerful.
You’re doing something incredible: keeping your baby nourished while showing them what strength, love, and dedication look like. That’s the definition of balance, not perfection, but persistence.
So here’s your reminder: You don’t have to choose between your career and your baby. You’re already doing both….beautifully.
Keep pumping.
Keep showing up.
Keep believing in yourself.
Because your milk is medicine, your effort is sacred, and your love doesn’t stop when you clock in….it just finds a new rhythm. 💛
