🚨In a historic upset, 34-year-old Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani, of Indian-Ugandan origin, won New York City's mayoral race on Nov. 4, 2025, defeating ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo by 9 points. The first Muslim, South Asian, and youngest mayor in over a century, he pledged rent freezes, free buses, universal childcare, and a $30 minimum wage via wealth taxes.
