Yupia, 18th September 2025:

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Papum Pare, successfully conducted a mock drill on an earthquake scenario today as part of the national preparedness initiative.

The exercise aimed to test the readiness of line departments, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and the general public in responding to earthquake emergencies.

As part of the drill, earthquake and its collateral damages were simulated at multiple key locations including the DC Office Yupia Complex, IOCL Depot Emchi, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyapeeth Yupia, and Donyi Polo Airport Itanagar. Upon receiving disaster information, all emergency rescue teams were swiftly dispatched from the staging area to the respective locations.

A special highlight of the drill was the participation of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), who demonstrated specialized rescue skills, including the use of sniffer dogs for search operations and the evacuation process from high-rise buildings.

Adding further strength to the exercise, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and APDA Mitras actively participated as first community responders, showcasing the vital role of trained volunteers in disaster response.

The entire mock drill was closely monitored by Incident Commander, ADC Tame Yajum and DDMO Nima Tashi who appreciated the coordinated efforts of all stakeholders.

Deputy Commissioner Vishakha Yadav, Chairperson DDMA, Papum Pare, emphasized the importance of such preparedness activities in building resilience and ensuring minimal loss of life and property during real calamities.

Swift Action by Aalo Police: Stolen Gold Worth Lakhs Recovered, Accused Arrested from Namsai

In a major breakthrough, Aalo Police successfully recovered stolen gold ornaments worth several lakhs and arrested the accused in connection with Aalo PS Case No. 46/2025 U/S 306 BNS, bringing swift justice to the complainant.

On 15th September 2025 at 0530 hrs, a police team led by SI S.K. Singh (I/O) with L/HC (SG) Nyabom Rame and Ct. John Nijo, proceeded to Namsai.
Two gold neck chains were seized from Smty. Sushila Tanti at Namsai Thana Line and one chain from Mrs. Gumnya Kochung of Mechuka. Seizures were videographed through eSakshya and linked to the FIR.
Smty. Sushila Tanti @ Maina, 26 yrs, W/o Shri Sib Tanti, was arrested after medical examination, and notice under Section 47 BNSS was served.

She was produced before the Hon’ble CJM, Aalo on 16th September 2025 and remanded to police custody for two days.
This well-planned operation was carried out under the direct supervision of Inspr. Yomken Riram, OC PS Aalo, and close supervision of Shri Kardak Riba, APPS, SP West Siang, strictly adhering to legal procedures and Supreme Court guidelines.
West Siang District Police remains committed to protecting public property, ensuring justice, and building confidence among citizens through timely and effective action.

The case also highlights the importance of knowing the actual name,address,family members and phone no etc of domestic help/workers etc

17/09/2025: Longding : Women Wing General Secretary AAPSU Miss Khoda Yallam along with the Women’s Wing of the Longding District Students’ Union, held a crucial interaction on Monday with Shri Dekio Gumja, Superintendent of Police (SP) Longding, and Shri T. Konia, Officer-in-Charge of Longding Police Station, regarding two recent and deeply concerning casesβ€”one involving the abuse of a 12-year-old child and the other a sexual assault on an 11-year-old girl.

During the meeting, the Officer-in-Charge informed the delegation that the charge sheet for the sexual assault case would be filed immediately on September 16, as all necessary evidence had already been collected. The SP, Shri Gumja, also assured that the charge sheet in the child abuse case would be filed within one week, once the ongoing investigation reaches completion.

The AAPSU team strongly emphasized the need for both cases to be treated as top priority and demanded a fast-track investigation so that justice is delivered without delay. They also called upon the authorities to ensure full protection and security for both minor survivors, given the sensitivity and seriousness of the crimes.

The team on the same day, escorted the child abuse survivor to a new residential school, ensuring her safety and well-being in a secure environment. The Union reaffirmed its commitment to standing by the victims and their families while pressing the authorities for strict action against the perpetrators.

**Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 Kicks Off with Enthusiasm in Dibang Valley**

Anini, Sept 17: The Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign took place today in the picturesque Dibang Valley district, igniting a collective spirit of cleanliness among its residents. Spearheaded by the District Administration in partnership with the Department of Urban Development & Housing and PHED Anini, this initiative promises to inspire positive change in the community.

The event kicked off at the DC Office with a heartfelt Swachhata Pledge ceremony, setting the tone for a day dedicated to the vision of a cleaner environment. Following the pledge, participants laced up their walking shoes for a spirited walkathon to the District Hospital, Anini. Flagged off by in-charge DC Shri Lijum Ete, the walkathon echoed Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring message on the importance of cleanliness. Urging everyone to take an active role in keeping their town spotless, he inspired the crowd as he administered the Swachhata Pledge.
