Naharlagun, Sept 6: A tragic incident has emerged after 22-year-old Bengia Ama Gora reportedly lost her life on September 6, 2025, at Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun.

Her family has alleged that the death was the result of medical negligence by doctors and nurses at the hospital. The victim’s brother, Bengia Lali, has formally lodged a complaint at Naharlagun Police Station, accusing the hospital staff of lapses in care and seeking justice for his sister’s untimely demise.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, while the complaint is expected to trigger a formal investigation into the matter

Doctors among five suspended over infant’s death in Gauhati Medical College.

The Assam Government has suspended five staff members, including two senior doctors, of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) following the death of a four-day-old infant in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (ICU) on August 18.

The newborn, admitted for infection and jaundice, was found hanging from medical equipment wires.

Doctors Anupama Deka and Dipankar Hazarika, nurses Gomti Devi and Chandana Nath, and ICU technician Ishanjyoti Talukdar have been suspended for six months.
