CYLINDER SHORTAGE, THIEVESโ€™ ADVANTAGE โ€” ITANAGAR POLICE BUSTS LPG THEFT TRAIL

Itanagar Police has arrested two accused persons, namely Yikar Taba and Lingko Tare, in connection with repeated theft of domestic LPG cylinders across Itanagar township.

A complaint regarding theft of one LPG cylinder from the verandah of a house at Jollang led Itanagar Police to uncover a wider theft-and-disposal pattern.

During investigation in Itanagar P.S. Case No. 121/2026 u/s 305(a) BNS, the police team acted on local inputs, intercepted the accused persons, and recovered the stolen LPG cylinder connected with the present case.

Further investigation revealed that the accused persons were allegedly conducting recce of residential areas, identifying vulnerable houses where LPG cylinders were kept in verandahs/open spaces, and stealing the cylinders when the houses appeared unattended. Taking advantage of the ongoing LPG shortage panic, they allegedly used local contacts and demand through social media to sell the stolen cylinders quickly at lower prices.

So far, 10 LPG cylinders have been recovered from receivers across Itanagar township. Further investigation is continuing to identify other victims, recover remaining stolen cylinders, verify receivers, and establish the complete theft-and-disposal chain.

PUBLIC APPEAL

Any person who has purchased/received LPG cylinders from Yikar Taba or Lingko Tare, or from any suspicious/unauthorised source, is advised to voluntarily surrender the same at Police Station Itanagar immediately.

Buying stolen property is not a bargain, it is a criminal act. If stolen cylinders are later recovered during investigation from any receiver who failed to disclose the same voluntarily, necessary legal action shall be initiated as per law.

Citizens are requested not to purchase LPG cylinders or household articles from unknown persons at suspiciously low prices, and to immediately inform police if anyone is seen selling LPG cylinders in suspicious circumstances.

Arunachal Prime News|| Rescue of Minor Girl and Arrest of Accused in POCSO Case

On 30/12/2025, a missing report was received at WPS Itanagar regarding a minor girl aged 15 years who had been missing since 27/12/2025 from the Itanagar area. In this connection, Itanagar Women Police Station Case No. 84/25 was registered under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Acting promptly, the Women Police Station, under the close supervision of SDPO Itanagar Chera Saban and OC, WPS Itanagar, Inspector Sonam Rina, initiated a thorough investigation using both human and technical intelligence. Based on sustained efforts, the minor was successfully traced and rescued from Banswara, Rajasthan, by a dedicated police team.

During the course of investigation, the victimโ€™s statement, recorded under relevant provisions of law, revealed that a 25-year-old accused had lured her into a relationship through Snapchat and established a physical relationship with her. Acting on this disclosure, the accused Dilawar Hussain (25 years), S/o Sabbir Hussain, R/o New Bus Stand, Banswara, Rajasthan, was apprehended on 09/04/2026 from Dungarpur district, Rajasthan, with the assistance of local police.

The accused was produced before the Honโ€™ble Special Judge, POCSO Court, Dungarpur, and was granted transit remand to be brought to Arunachal Pradesh on 11/04/2026 for further legal proceedings. He will be produced before the competent court shortly.

Itanagar Capital Police also appeals to all parents and guardians to remain vigilant regarding their childrenโ€™s use of smartphones and social media platforms. Increased access to digital devices without adequate supervision has led to a concerning rise in cases of online grooming and manipulation of minors by miscreants. Parents are advised to maintain close oversight, engage in open communication with their children, and ensure responsible and monitored use of online platforms to safeguard them from such risks.

Capital Police reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of women and children and urges the public to remain vigilant and report any such incidents promptly.
