Itanagar, Sept 12 โ€“ The state government, represented by Health Minister Biyuram Wahge and Home Minister Mama Natung, met with representatives of APDA, IMA-AP, TFA, and TNAI at the Civil Secretariat to discuss their memorandum of demands. After extensive deliberations, the ministers accepted all the points raised and assured prompt implementation. To address concerns over safety, the ministers announced that a joint mass meeting with healthcare professionals will be held at TRIHMS on Sept 12. In response to these assurances, the medical fraternity called off their planned 48-hour hospital shutdown but stated they reserve the right to resume protest if the promises are not fulfilled.

Student Leaderโ€“cumโ€“Local Journalist Arrested with Associate in Drug Case by Chimpu Police

On 22nd August 2025, Chimpu Police, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a white Grand Vitara at Chimpu Check Post and arrested two individuals for involvement in drug trafficking. The naka checking was carried out under the supervision of SDPO Itanagar DySP Kengo Dirchi along with OC Inspector N. Nishant and the Chimpu Police team, under the close supervision of SP Itanagar Shri Jummar Basar.

For legal compliance, Special Judicial Magistrate (Narcotics) Shri Oli Koyu and an independent witness were present.

The arrested persons are:
โ€ข William Tana Tara (27 yrs), Secretary (Research & Documentation), ANSU, and holder of a Press ID card of APN Live.
โ€ข Biki Phukan (28 yrs), a non-tribal resident of H-Sector, Itanagar, originally from North Lakhimpur, Assam.

From the possession of William Tana Tara, police recovered more than 10 vials of he**in (2.5 gms net), 4 empty vials, cash, a press ID card, and suspected mobile phones. The Grand Vitara vehicle was also seized.

A case has been registered vide Chimpu PS Case No. 57/2025 U/S 21(a)/27A/29 NDPS Act. Investigation is ongoing to trace the wider supply chain.
