Suspected He**in Seized at Banderdewa Check Gate

Banderdewa Police intercepted an Alto vehicle bearing registration number AR-01S-5057 at the Banderdewa Check Gate on August 25 and detained two persons on suspicion of narcotic transportation.

During the search, police recovered eight vials containing suspected he**in weighing 10.29 grams, including the weight of the vials, from beneath the passenger seat of the vehicle.

The operation was led by SI Koj Tada, along with SI Sunny S, ASI A. Rajbhar, H/CT Phassang Guna, CT R. Tsering and personnel of the 138th Battalion CRPF, under the supervision of ASP Rishi Longdo, SDPO Naharlagun.

A case was registered vide BDW/PS C. No. 48/2026 under Sections 21(b)/29 of the NDPS Act. The two accused, Ratum Mengnia (19), a resident of Dokum Colony, Itanagar, and Bimal Tao (26), a resident of Village Namura, Seijosa, were arrested in connection with the case.

SP ICR Naharlagun, Dr. Nyelam Nega, APPS, reiterated the police commitment towards a drug-free society and appealed to the public for continued cooperation in combating the drug menace.

Kra-Daadi Team Emerges Overall Champion at 6th State-Level Judo Championship

The 6th State-Level Judo Championship 2026 concluded at the DNGC Auditorium in Itanagar after three days of intense competition, with the Kra-Daadi team emerging as the overall champion.

Organised by the Arunachal Judo Association, the championship brought together young judokas from different parts of the state to compete across various categories.

The closing ceremony was attended by Shri Mukesh Kumar, General Secretary of the Judo Union of Asia (JUA) and President of the Judo Federation of India (JFI), as the Chief Guest. Shri Banee Brata Das, General Secretary of the JFI, was present as the Guest of Honour, while Shri Tadar Appa, Director of Sports, attended as the Special Invitee.

The successful conduct of the championship highlighted the growing interest in judo and provided a platform for athletes to showcase their skills at the state level.

The Topu Grace Foundation on Sunday organised a cleanliness drive at Sopo, Doimukh, covering around a 3-km stretch of the highway.

Doimukh Police Seize 11 Two-Wheelers in Crackdown on Vehicle Theft and Fake Plates

Doimukh Police have recovered 11 two-wheelers, including six scooties and five motorcycles, during an extensive checking and raid operation conducted at various locations across the district.

Acting on inputs regarding vehicle theft and the use of forged registration plates, a police team led by DySP Nabam Rikam, SDPO Doimukh, and Inspector T.M. Neekam, OC Doimukh Police Station, carried out intensive naka checking and raids.

During the operation, 10 vehicles were found with discrepancies between their engine/chassis numbers and the registration plates affixed to them. The vehicles have been seized and kept at Doimukh Police Station for detailed verification and identification of their rightful owners.

Legal action under relevant provisions of the BNS and Motor Vehicles Act is being initiated.

Police have appealed to individuals whose two-wheelers were recently stolen to visit Doimukh Police Station with valid ownership documents for identification and verification.

The crackdown was conducted under the overall guidance of Taru Gusar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Papum Pare.

Police stated that such operations against vehicle theft, forged registration plates and other illegal vehicle-related activities will continue.

APST Re-Verification: ASBAC Issues Final Ultimatum to Chief Minister

Millo Ambo, Member of ASBAC and the High Power Committee on APST Re-Verification, briefed the media on the latest updates and recommendations submitted to the Committee.

He also conveyed the Committee’s final ultimatum to the Chief Minister, demanding that the Deputy Chief Minister step down and be relieved of his position to ensure a fair, impartial and transparent investigation into the APST matter concerning him.

Ambo stated that the APST re-verification process must remain free from political influence, with transparency, accountability and public confidence at its core.

6th State Level Judo Championship-2026 Begins at DNGC Auditorium

The 6th State Level Judo Championship-2026 began today at the DNGC Auditorium in Itanagar, organised by the Arunachal Judo Association.

The inaugural programme was graced by MLA Chaw Zingnu Namchoom as the Chief Guest. The three-day championship will continue from August 21 to 23, with participants from across Arunachal Pradesh taking part in various judo categories.

The All Chambang Circle Youth Association (ACCYA) Raises Road and Administrative Issues in Chambang

The All Chambang Circle Youth Association (ACCYA) held a press briefing and raised concerns over road connectivity, including the Sangchang–Tudubath RWD road, overlapping PWD road and incomplete road work.
