The Mopin Festival is a vibrant agricultural celebration observed by the Galo tribe of Arunachal Pradesh.

It marks the harvesting season and the Galo New Year, typically held in the months of "Lumi" and "Luki," which correspond to March and April. Officially, the festival is fixed on April 5 each year.

Rooted in the animist Donyi-Polo faith of the Galo people, Mopin is a time to honor Mopin Ane, the goddess of fertility and prosperity, believed to bless households and the community with wealth, good health, and a bountiful harvest.

The festival also serves to ward off evil spirits, bringing peace and harmony. Participants dress in traditional white attire, symbolizing purity and unity, often adorned with jewelry and bamboo headgear. A key ritual involves smearing rice paste (Ette) on each other’s faces, a sacred act tied to rice.
