CAPITAL POLICE ARRESTS ACCUSED IN ATTEMPT TO MURDER CASE

On 06/06/2026, a written complaint was received at Police Station Itanagar regarding an alleged assault upon an auto driver by another auto driver near Clock Tower, Itanagar.

On receipt of the complaint, a regular case vide Itanagar P.S. Case No. 152/2026 u/s 109(II)/118(2) BNS was registered and taken up for investigation. The sections invoked include attempt to murder and voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon.

Acting swiftly, the police team launched a late-night operation to trace and secure the accused. During the operation, the accused person, namely Shri Tai Saimon, aged about 28 years, S/o Lt. Tai Tachey, presently residing near Legislative Assembly, Itanagar, was traced and arrested late at night.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that there was a physical altercation between the accused and the victim, following which the accused allegedly attacked the victim with a machete, causing serious injuries and endangering his life.

The injured victim is undergoing medical treatment. Further investigation is in progress, including collection of medical opinion, examination of witnesses, verification of CCTV footage, and recovery of relevant evidence.

Capital Police reiterates that incidents of violent assault shall be dealt with firmly and strictly in accordance with law.

The Indian women's football team (the Blue Tigresses) won the SAFF Women's Championship, defeating the defending champions Bangladesh 3-1 in a high-intensity final match held in Margao, Goa.

This victory marks a massive comeback for India, ending a seven-year wait to lift the trophy again and claiming their sixth SAFF title overall.
