๐ก๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ต๐ถ, ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday to review progress on several high-priority projects aimed at strengthening the stateโs infrastructure and strategic preparedness.
The discussions covered a range of initiatives that the state and the Centre are implementing along Indiaโs northeastern frontier, which borders China, Bhutan and Myanmar. Officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs and state officials have been coordinating closely on security-related works, including road construction in remote districts and expansion of telecommunications in border areas.
Khandu expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the Union Government for what he described as โunwavering support and continued commitmentโ to Arunachal Pradeshโs development. He highlighted the role of faster clearances and increased budgetary allocations in accelerating project timelines.
Major schemes reviewed during the meeting include the proposed 1,748 km Frontier Highway adjoining the Line of Actual Control, the ongoing upgrades to the Trans Arunachal Highway, and several hydropower ventures intended to expand the regionโs renewable energy capacity. State officials said these projects are being pursued not only for local economic benefit but also to bolster national security through improved connectivity.
The meeting underscores the Centreโs sustained engagement with frontier states on infrastructure that has both civilian and strategic significance.
Khandu has repeatedly emphasized that enhanced roads, power and telecom connectivity are central to Arunachal Pradeshโs economic growth and to strengthening Indiaโs defensive posture along its northeastern borders.
