ITANAGAR | Sept 2: The second sitting of the High Power Committee (HPC) on re-verification of Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) certificates witnessed heated discussions on Wednesday at the Arunachal Pradesh Secretariat.

Speaking to the media, ST movement leader Millo Ambo said the meeting focused on recommendations regarding ST certificate issuance, the procedures followed since 2022 and the proposed statewide re-verification process. He stressed the need for transparency, proper documentation and accountability at every stage.

Addressing differences within the ST movement, Ambo said disagreements among members should not be viewed as a split, urging the public to focus on the issue rather than individuals. He also spoke on the Yobin community issue and ongoing legal proceedings related to ST certificates.

The next HPC sitting is expected to be held after around 45 days.

September 19 to Be Observed as ‘Zubeen Divas’; Three-Day Tribute Planned at Zubeen Kshetra

Guwahati: September 19 will be observed as ‘Zubeen Divas’, with a series of cultural programmes scheduled at Zubeen Kshetra from September 17 to 19 to honour the life, music and enduring legacy of legendary singer Zubeen Garg.

The three-day programme will bring together artists, cultural performers, admirers and fans to pay tribute to the iconic musician through various cultural activities and performances.

Garima Saikia Garg has invited people from across the region to come together and make the occasion a collective celebration of Zubeen Garg’s music, contributions and legacy.

The observance is expected to provide a platform for people to remember and celebrate the remarkable impact Zubeen Garg had on Assam’s music and cultural landscape.

APPSC Announces 155 Group-A & Group-B Technical Posts; Applications Open From September 10

Itanagar, September 2: The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has announced 155 vacancies under the Common Recruitment Examination for Group-A and Group-B, Gazetted (Technical) Posts-2026 (Part-I).

The recruitment drive, through Advertisement No. 04/2026 dated September 1, 2026, covers various technical posts across departments of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

Post-wise vacancies

* Veterinary Officer: 66 posts
* Horticulture Development Officer: 45 posts
* Agriculture Development Officer: 42 posts
* Assistant Director (Sericulture): 1 post
* Dairy Development Officer: 1 post
Total: 155 posts, including 6 posts reserved for PwBD candidates.

The posts carry Group-A Level 10 pay scales of ₹56,100–₹1,77,500 for Agriculture Development Officer, Horticulture Development Officer, Veterinary Officer and Assistant Director (Sericulture), while the Dairy Development Officer post carries Group-B Level 6 pay scale of ₹35,400–₹1,12,400.

Mandatory eligibility criteria

According to the APPSC notification, applicants must be citizens of India, permanent residents of Arunachal Pradesh and holders of a valid Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) issued by the competent authority.

Candidates must also possess an Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) Certificate and meet the prescribed Indigenous Tribal Language Proficiency requirement, including the ability to speak an indigenous tribal language of Arunachal Pradesh and working knowledge of local indigenous tribes.

Application dates

The online application window will open at 5:00 PM on September 10, 2026, and will remain open until 5:00 PM on September 30, 2026.

Candidates must first complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the APPSC website before submitting their application. Those already registered under OTR can directly log in using their existing credentials.

The Commission has advised candidates to submit only one application. In case multiple applications are submitted, only the application bearing the highest Registration ID (RID) will be considered.

Candidates are advised to carefully read the official notification and fulfil all eligibility requirements before applying.

Itanagar, September 1: Social activist Sol Dodum has resigned as Chairman of the ST Bachao Andolan Committee, stating that he will continue to remain committed to the welfare and rights of the people.

Dodum announced his resignation through a social media post, thanking committee members, supporters and well-wishers for their trust, love and cooperation during his tenure.

“Though I am stepping down from the post of Chairman, my commitment to the welfare and rights of our people will always remain strong,” he said.

Itanagar | Aug 31: The Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan Committee has clarified that the recent miscommunication between committee members Sol Dodum and Milo Ambo has now been resolved.
Addressing the media, Committee members Sol Dodum, Taw Paul and Tana Tamar said that further discussions will be held in the coming days to deliberate on the matter and decide the future course of action.

Meanwhile, Sol Dodum stated that he may no longer remain a member of the committee in the coming days, expressing his intention to work independently for the welfare of society, as he had done previously.
The committee maintained that the issue has been resolved and further decisions will be taken after due discussions among the members.

Overflowing Stream Floods Highway, Vehicular Movement Disrupted in Seppa

Seppa, August 31: An overflowing stream inundated a section of the highway at I Love Jharna Point in Seppa early Monday morning following heavy rainfall, disrupting vehicular movement in the area.

The highway was covered with muddy floodwater, making it difficult and potentially unsafe for vehicles to pass through the affected stretch.

Commuters have been advised to exercise caution while travelling through the area until the water level recedes and normal traffic movement is restored.

The Save Taksing–Save Arunachal Movement Committee (STSAM) organised a peaceful protest rally against the alleged presence of Chinese PLA personnel in Indian territory under Taksing, Arunachal Pradesh.

Held under the motto “Our Land. Our Identity. Our Rights” and “Together for Arunachal, Together for Our Future,” the rally was joined by APCC, PPA, NPA and various NGOs.
The rally started from Akashdeep and culminated at IG Park, Itanagar.

The protesters demanded the immediate withdrawal of Chinese PLA, time-bound India-China boundary demarcation, improved road, telecommunication and air connectivity along the LAC, and the creation of an Arunachal Regiment in the Indian army
