Shri Satyanarayan ji Maloo (1933-2025) | 24 Feb 2025

My Bauji (92 years) left us peacefully in my arms today at 3 PM! ✨
My whole world turned upside down in just few hours. Like my grandma, his mother and his mother-in-law, he also left us on Ekadasi, at his own will. ā¤ļø

Blessed to be able to spend quality time together with him in last one month at home and mostly in hospital. Thank you for keeping him and us in our prayers and thoughts. āœØšŸ™šŸ¼

Om Shanti! 🌼🫶

Kishangarh has (always) been well-known for three things:

1ļøāƒ£ Bani Thani (known as The Indian Monalisa), the iconic Kishangarh style of painting
2ļøāƒ£ The world-famous marble industry (hello, RK Marble Group and the Marble Dumpyard!)
3ļøāƒ£ … Well, me (at least that’s what I like to believe šŸ˜„)

And now, we proudly add a fourth 4ļøāƒ£ —Ankit Garg .30 ! šŸŽ‰ My school friend, a brilliant entrepreneurial mind from IIT, and the driving force behind Solarium Green Energy , which is now headed for an IPO! šŸš€

From our small town in Kishangarh to making a global impact, Ankit’s journey is pure inspiration. Bootstrapped, built with grit & passion, and now shining bright in the world of green technology and solar energy.

Here’s to homegrown success, to dreaming big, and to proving that no matter where you come from, the world is yours to conquer! Kishangarh to IPO—what a journey! šŸŒāœØ

Carrying the flag of India from Antarctica to Annapurna, from the land to the sky, and representing it across all 60 countries on 7 continents has been the greatest honor of my life. Every step, every breath, has been a tribute to the dreams and aspirations that unite us all.

On this 75th Republic Day, I stand proud—not only for my country, but for the collective spirit that binds us together.

Happy Republic Day, Bharat! šŸ‡®šŸ‡³

These pictures are from my first visit to Kolkata after the Annapurna incident and if you can’t tell already, I had the warmest timešŸ¤

The minute I stepped here, I felt like reconnecting with the city through a meet-and-greet community event. ā¤ļø I’ve hosted similar meet-ups in other cities, but this one felt extra special.

I got to catch up with so many old friends across communities and networks, including the amazing start-up ecosystem in Kolkata. We gathered at a friend’s coworking space and also had an event with TiE Kolkata entrepreneurs who share a love for trekking and hiking.

What truly made this visit memorable was spending time with family and friends who feel like family. šŸ’›

A big thank you to all my friends and their families, from Praveen Maloo, Preeti Rathi Mall, Giriraj Mall, Rahul Mall, Kanak Puri, Kamal Agarwala, Sahil Wadhwa Daftar, Amit Keshan, Sayani Saraswati, Sharad Bhaiya, and so many others for hosting me and making this trip so joyful.

Kolkata, you will always be the City of Joy for me!🌸

ā€œSurviving Annapurnaā€ has been a pivotal chapter in my life, shaping me into a stronger, more resilient individual and fueling my passion to share my story and mission with the world. In May 2024, I had the opportunity to do just that at the India International Centre () in Delhi through my illustrated talk, chaired by Retd. Brigadier Ashok Abbey.✨

It was an unforgettable experience to have a houseful show with friends and a supportive audience join me, becoming a part of this deeply personal and transformative journey.šŸ˜€

A heartfelt thanks to aunty Sunita Dwivedi and uncle General Upendra Dwivedi, the current and 30th Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army, for their gracious presence and support. I am deeply grateful to my dear friend, Shalini Dwivedi (.dwi), for her unwavering support. It was truly an honor to have them with us for this special moment.ā™„ļø

Sitting in a space filled with passionate changemakers at the Feminist Finance Forum 2024 at the UN Centre in Bangkok was truly inspiring and transformative šŸŒāœØ

The conversations around ā€˜Driving Action for a Feminist Financial Ecosystem in Asia and the Pacific’ reminded me of the power of collective efforts in creating meaningful change. Dialogue and purpose, I’ve always felt, are key to building a more inclusive future.

I’m grateful to have witnessed such an important conversation and to reconnect with UN partner organizations I’ve had the privilege of working with over the past few years—UN Women, UNDP, Youth Co:Lab, UNESCAP, and others. Together, we’re driving key partnerships to advance the sustainable development agenda.

There’s something so energizing about being surrounded by young, curious minds! ✨

Last July, I had the privilege of sharing my story with bright young students from Ashok Hall Group of Schools, part of the Aditya Birla Group, during the EDGE Compass () event at Kala Mandir in Kolkata. With over 2,200 students in attendance, it was a day filled with inspiration.

Ashok Hall Group of Schools is one of the largest school chains in Kolkata, with more than 10,000 students, and the experience reminded me of the importance of staying connected to that boundless youthful energy that makes anything feel possible. ✊

As 2024 closes, I look back with profound gratitude on a year of growth, challenges, and miraculous recovery.

From the shadows of Annapurna to the peaks of personal reinvention, this year has been a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of connection. The journey continues—one step, one summit at a time. šŸ”ļøāœØ

Let’s move forward with courage, compassion, and the lessons we’ve learned together.

Today, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD), I reflect on how challenges shape us—not by what they take away, but by what they teach us.

In April 2023, my life changed forever after surviving a near-fatal fall on Mount Annapurna. The rescue was a miracle, so was the steadfast recovery but the journey since has been equally transformative.

Living with amputations and adapting to new realities hasn’t been easy, but it’s taught me that disability is not a limitation—it’s an opportunity to reimagine possibilities.

In those early days of recovery in the hospital, I struggled with many questions: ā€œWhy amputations? Can I escape this? Is there any other alternative solution or treatment to prevent this? How will I move forward? Will I ever be the same again?ā€ But as I’ve walked this path, I’ve discovered something profound: It’s not about going back to who I was—it’s about embracing who I am becoming. I have learnt to accept my new reality and not keep living in any denial.

Through this journey, I’ve discovered the resilience of the human spirit and the power of determination. From learning to write with my left hand to regaining the ability to use my right hand, I’ve realized it’s not about going back to who I was but embracing who I’m becoming.

To everyone in the disability community: your strength inspires me every day. Let’s continue to break barriers, build inclusive spaces, and celebrate all abilities.

Disability is not a barrier—it’s a perspective that enriches the world. Together, let’s create a future where no one is left behind.

Throwing it back to the unforgettable evening of Inside Annapurna hosted by the Himalayan Environment Trust on May 5, 2024, at the iconic Gulmohar Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

This event marked the first anniversary of my miraculous rescue from the icy depths of Mount Annapurna, where I had been trapped in a crevasse for nearly three days and nights. Reuniting with the incredible individuals who saved my life—Adam Bielecki, Mariusz Hatala, and the courageous Sherpas and guide team—was profoundly emotional.

Standing on that stage with Adam and Mariusz, sharing the story of not just survival but the unwavering spirit of teamwork, bravery, and humanity, was a moment I’ll never forget. The daring efforts of Sobit Gauchan, the helicopter pilot, and the entire rescue team were nothing short of extraordinary.

The evening wasn’t just about looking back; it was also about reflecting on the strength of human connections, the power of nature, and the resilience it demands from us. Sharing this journey with an audience at such a meaningful venue added to the significance—it was a reminder that every challenge we overcome is a story worth telling to inspire others.

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate this milestone and support my mission of Climbing for SDGs, creating awareness for global causes while scaling the world’s highest peaks.

Forever grateful to Maninder Kohli and Himalayan Environment Trust for organizing this, and Retd Brig Ashok Abbey sir for chairing the session. šŸŒšŸ’«
