Writers often come back from retreats with memories, with learning. We want to send them home with something more. Every writer who walks out of Chapter Four will leave with four things that Siyahi is uniquely placed to offer.

❇️ A sharper manuscript, shaped by a week of intensive work with Madhulika Liddle, one of the finest crime writers in India today.

❇️ A clear roadmap to traditional publishing, because Milee Ashwarya of Penguin Random House India, and our very own Mita Kapur will be in that room, and they will tell you exactly what the industry is looking for, and how to get there.

❇️ An understanding of what it takes to be an author in today's world, because Saksham Garg will lead a masterclass on building your platform, finding your audience, and owning your name as much as your work.

❇️ And their name in the right circles, because at Siyahi, we don’t just open doors for our authors. We walk through them together.

Your manuscript. Your roadmap. Your shot at making a spot on that shelf for your book.

That’s what we built Chapter Four for. That’s why these writers will come, ✍️📝👩‍💻

In 24 hours, a small group of writers will walk into a 17th century fort in Rajasthan and be changed as writers forever.

They’re coming from different cities, different backgrounds, different stages of their writing lives. Some have been working on their story for years. Some have just begun. What they have in common is this: they have a crime story in them, and they came to write it.

By the time they leave, each of them will have written one.

This is Chapter Four of Siyahi’s Writers’ Retreat - The Plot Thickens. And it begins on 1 June 2026.

Six books. One language pair: Hindi to English.
And the translators who made it all possible.

Hindi literature has been doing extraordinary things for over a century, telling stories of love, guilt, political rot, rural despair, and surreal tenderness that have no equivalent anywhere else. And yet, for most of its history, it remained largely inaccessible to anyone who couldn’t read it in the original.

But, the translation process changed that. Swipe to meet six must-read translations from Hindi to English.

Each one is a reminder that translation is not a lesser act. It is the act that makes literature travel, across borders, across languages, across the distance between a writer’s world and a reader’s imagination.

Which of these have you read? Tell us in the comments.

A literary translation masterclass

Here’s what to expect:
❇️ Masterclasses with Poonam Saxena, one of India’s most distinguished literary translators

❇️ A small, carefully selected group of translators who are as invested in this as you are.

Siyahi has spent nearly two decades working with writers, as literary agents, as curators, as people who believe the best thing you can do for a writer is challenge them. Our Writers’ Retreats are built on that belief. Four retreats in, we know how to build the right room.

That room is Samode Haveli, a 225-year-old heritage property in Jaipur, frescoed, unhurried, and at its most beautiful during the August monsoon. Every meal, every session, every detail is taken care of.

You just have to write. Come, be a part of our 20-year legacy of bringing books to life!  , and let us find your book the right publisher.

Devdutt Pattanaik’s How to Become Rich and Business Sutra are out now in Russian! These editions bring Indian perspectives on wealth, culture, spirituality and leadership to a new global audience.

How to Become Rich: Uses Vedic and Puranic stories of the goddess Lakshmi to bridge the gap between material prosperity and deep spiritual values.

Business Sutra: Contrasts rigid Western management with a mythology-inspired Indian approach to leadership, showing how to transform stressful workplaces into harmonious environments.

This milestone shows a growing trend: Indian literature is breaking language barriers and reaching global readers.

And to support the craft that makes this literary exchange possible, Siyahi has curated a special writers’ retreat focused on literary translations. 1-8 August 2026, this retreat is a dedicated space for translators to refine their skills.

Grab your copies now, and DM us to get more information on the Translation retreat.

Big news for Chapter Five. The dates have moved, and honestly, we think it’s for the better.

Chapter Five | Translations is now from 1–8 August 2026 at Samode Haveli, Jaipur. That’s beautiful monsoon season in Rajasthan. Frescoed corridors, candlelit courtyards, the smell of rain on warm earth. The kind of setting that makes work feel like a privilege.

Everything else stays. Deepa Bhasthi. Poonam Saxena. Ananth Padmanabhan. The same intimate, extraordinary room.

If you’ve been on the fence, this is your sign.

“There were these amazing masterclasses, with such phenomenal people coming in to talk to you about the craft of writing ... I went from 25% in to the manuscript I was writing at the time, to 60% in! In 6 days!” -

Siyahi’s Writers’ Retreats are game-changing! Don’t just take our word for it. Hear from the writers who’ve been here, who showed up with fragments, and left with pages.

Neelu is currently querying a romantasy manuscript while she continues to work on several others. She is also building a new business in collaboration with a fellow writer from the Chapter One cohort!

If you’ve been waiting for the right space to write, this is it.

On this day, exactly one year ago, we began the very first chapter of Siyahi’s Writers’ Retreats and what a wonderful journey it has been.

Since that first retreat, our community has thrived; our WhatsApp groups stay buzzing with constant conversation, and our inboxes regularly pop up with exciting new manuscripts from the retreat participants. The first book from one of our retreat alumni is almost ready to hit the shelves!

We are excited to be stepping into Chapter Four soon, with many more chapters already in the pipeline.
