Achiever's group led by industrialist and leader has secured a clean sweep in the Jullundur Club elections held on Sunday.
The election was contested primarily between the Achievers Group and the Progressive Group.
The final results saw Nitin Kohli and his team securing all four key positions at the Jullundur Gymkhana Club:
* Honorary Secretary — Amit Kukreja — 2,074 votes; winning margin: 1,720 votes
* Junior Vice President — Dheeraj Seth — 1,549 votes; winning margin: 486 votes
* Joint Secretary — Harpreet Singh ‘Goldy’ — secured following the withdrawal of the opposing candidate
* Treasurer — Saurabh Khullar — 1,569 votes; winning margin: 508 votes
The Jullundur Gymkhana Club, established in 1958, remains an important institution in the social and civic life of and has more than 4,000 members.

Jalandhar’s talented javelin thrower Arshdeep Singh, who is set to compete in the Athletics Final Series 2026, carries with him a story of family's support. His journey is incomplete without his father who gave up a settled life in Canada to ensure that his son could pursue his dream here without compromise.

Arshdeep, who is currently serving as a Senior CCTC in the Railways, is training intensely in Jalandhar for the upcoming event that will be held in New Delhi on September 10.

A group of non-resident Indians (NRIs) have pitched in to wean children off cellphone addiction in Kang Sabu village, Nakodar.

Gurbani Kaur (6), along with 60 other children, is attending weekend classes to get rid of excessive use of mobile phones. Once she settles down, Gurbani’s mother watches her carrying the hope that these 3-4 hours each weekend might bring about a change. “She is always on her phone and plays games all the time. It bothers me,” her mother said.

The NRIs have helped set up free weekend classes for children aged 6 to 18. The idea is not simply to take phones away from them but to teach them how to use technology mindfully and also to give them something meaningful to turn to instead.
