Meeran Haider, a student activist arrested during the anti-CAA protests, was released on bail after spending more than five years in prison as an undertrial in cases linked to the 2020 Delhi violence.

His release comes alongside bail granted to fellow student activists Gulfisha Fatima, Shifa-ur-Rahman and Saleem Khan. Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam continue to remain in jail, awaiting trial.

Gulfisha Fatima was released on bail after spending more than five years in jail without conviction. Arrested in April 2020 in connection with the 2020 Delhi anti-Muslim pogrom, the MBA graduate remained incarcerated under the UAPA as an undertrial.
