Our final camp of the year in Jamkhed has now drawn to a close. Together with .jamkhed , we look back on an exceptional year: more than 400 surgeries, leaving a lasting and significant social impact while continuing to restore function, dignity, and new possibilities throughout the community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved, surgeons, anaesthesiologists, nurses, hand therapists , and all the local staff who worked tirelessly with genuine commitment, passion, and compassion.

We are also grateful to , Milan-based filmmaker, who joined the GICAM team to capture the local setting, the culture, and the stories of the people whose lives are being transformed.

We look forward to returning in 2026 — with new stories, new challenges, and an even greater impact.

Day 4 - Teamwork in Action

The team was already at work at dawn, together with the staff, setting up the theatres for the first cases of the day.

The two teams worked hard side by side, keeping sharp focus from the early hours through a full schedule that saw 13 surgeries completed with care and precision.

🌍 Mission No. 10: Day 2

At Julia Hospital, .jamkhed, the day began before sunrise, with the team already in action.

The morning moved quickly with patient assessments, surgical planning and the successful completion of the first surgeries, each requiring precision, focus and strong teamwork.

A day that reminded us why this mission matters.

Mission No. 10: Closing 2024 with Compassion and Purpose at Julia Hospital

After a 24-hour journey, the team arrived last night at Julia Hospital, .jamkhed, ready to continue our commitment to restoring function, dignity and hope.

Today, the team immediately began seeing patients and planning surgeries.

We also welcomed a very special visitor: Sayali, a young patient treated a few years ago, who returned for her follow-up.

Born without a thumb on her right hand, she underwent a pollicisation, transferring the index finger to the position of the thumb, and now she can grasp, hold and write.
On her left hand, she had only three fingers and a deviated hand, which we corrected through a centralisation.

Today, she proudly showed us how beautifully she can write.

A powerful reminder of why these missions matter.

Professor Marco Lanzetta Bertani, Founder and President of , will be on air to speak about the upcoming Charity Dinner on Friday, 21 November at the Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola, where we will gather for our annual get-together.
