MLAs Move Private Bills Seeking Liquor & To***co Ban in J&K Assembly
Several Members of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly have submitted private member bills proposing a ban on liquor and to***co products in the Union Territory.
These proposals are among dozens of private bills listed for discussion in the Assembly. If debated, the bills would seek stricter regulation or prohibition of alcohol and to***co consumption in Jammu and Kashmir.
However, it is important to note that these are private member bills introduced by individual legislators and not government legislation. Such bills require broader political support to move forward and do not automatically become law.
At present, there has been no official government announcement confirming a ban on liquor or to***co in Jammu and Kashmir.
The proposals are expected to trigger discussions around public health, social concerns, tourism, and economic impact in the region.
