Social Activist Questions Lack of Doctor Identification in Kashmir Hospitals, Urges LG Manoj Sinha’s Intervention
SRINAGAR, July 25:
In a strong statement today, social activist Wani Javeed raised serious concerns over the lack of visible identification among doctors in hospitals across Kashmir. He highlighted that despite repeated public requests, most doctors fail to wear their official uniforms or aprons, making it difficult for patients and attendants to recognize medical professionals.
"Doctors are life-savers, and we strongly condemn any assault on them. But they must also understand the emotions and pain of patients and their families," said Wani Javeed. "When senior doctors remain confined to their personal chambers and postgraduate students are left to handle the rush, it is the public that suffers."
Javeed stressed the need for accountability and professional conduct in the healthcare sector, adding that it is unacceptable for hospitals to operate in such a disorganized manner.
"The absence of proper identification like aprons—something as basic as what even security personnel follow—raises questions. Visuals clearly show most medical staff working without proper attire," he added.
Appealing directly to the Lieutenant Governor, he said, “We request LG Manoj Sinha to personally look into the health sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Every day, we witness incidents that reflect a lack of professionalism.”
The statement has sparked renewed debate on healthcare standards and the need for reforms to ensure that the system functions in a transparent and efficient manner for the benefit of the public.
