Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo said teachers are the architects of society, nurturing generations of IAS and IPS officers, doctors, engineers, and other professionals. She questioned the fairness of asking teachers with decades of service—who have spent their lives preparing students for examinations—to undergo another test themselves.

Referring to the Supreme Court ruling on TET, she said the government stood firmly with the teachers from day one and worked relentlessly to secure justice for them. A review petition has now been filed, and the government will continue to vigorously pursue the matter. She expressed confidence that the teachers' genuine concerns will be addressed and assured them that the government remains fully committed to protecting their dignity, rights, and future.

A parent's struggle often goes unseen. Every year, families work hard, make sacrifices, and stretch their limited incomes to give their children a better future. Yet, many private schools continue to change uniforms annually and force parents to buy books and uniforms from selected shops, adding an unnecessary financial burden.

For a daily wage worker, a farmer, or a low-income family, these expenses are not just numbers—they mean skipped necessities, unpaid bills, and sleepless nights.

Education should open doors, not empty pockets.

We urge the Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, to protect the interests of parents and students by ensuring that uniforms and books are available at all shops across the district, giving families the freedom to choose affordable options.

Parents are asking for fairness, not favors. Their voices deserve to be heard.

Tarigami Calls for Immediate Compensation After Hailstorm Ravages Parts of Kulgam

Kulgam, June 5: Senior CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, on Friday expressed profound grief over the widespread damage caused by a hailstorm in several areas of Kulgam district.

Describing the weather event as a major setback for the farming community, Tarigami said that standing crops, orchards, and vegetable fields have suffered significant losses, leaving many farmers distressed. He urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to conduct an immediate on-ground assessment of the affected areas and ensure that compensation reaches the victims at the earliest.

“The losses suffered by farmers and orchardists must be assessed without delay, and adequate relief should be provided to help them recover,” Tarigami said.

Highlighting the growing vulnerability of agriculture to extreme weather conditions, the MLA reiterated the need for a robust and accessible Crop Insurance Scheme. He said such a mechanism would provide much-needed financial protection to farmers facing recurring losses due to natural disasters.

Tarigami also appealed to the authorities to adopt long-term measures aimed at safeguarding the livelihoods of farmers and strengthening the resilience of the agricultural sector in the region.
