Health Department Organizes TB Screening & Anti-Tobacco Awareness Camp at Haji Public School, Breswana 🇮🇳

Under the guidance of CMO Doda Dr. Om Kumar and supervision of BMO Ghat Dr. Abdul Gafoor, the Health Department conducted a comprehensive Health Screening & Check-up Camp under NTEP at Haji Public School, Breswana.

Over 100 students and staff benefited from the initiative, with 50 TB samples collected for testing. The camp also featured an awareness session under the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0, highlighting the ill effects of to***co and the importance of TB prevention.

Participants took a pledge for a Tobacco-Free Environment, reaffirming commitment to a healthier future.
The school administration, led by Director Ms. Saba Haji, lauded the Health Department for its outreach efforts in this remote region.

*SSP DODA REVIEWS CRIME AND SECURITY SCENARIO OF SUB-DIVISION BHADERWAH*

Doda, October 08, 2025:

*Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sh. Sandeep Mehta (JKPS)*, today conducted a comprehensive crime and security review meeting at Police Station Bhaderwah, which was attended by Addl. SP Bhaderwah, SDPO Bhaderwah, Station House Officers (SHOs) of Police Stations Bhaderwah and Thathri, and In-Charges of Police Posts falling under their jurisdictions.

The meeting focused on reviewing heinous cases including murder, attempt to murder, NDPS, UAPA, and rape/POCSO offences, besides assessing progress on time-bound investigations governed by the 60–90-day legal schedules.

Case-by-case discussions were held on all ongoing investigations and backlog matters from the current year. SSP Mehta emphasized the importance of quality investigation, timely filing of chargesheets, and ensuring justice to victims. All pending timeline cases were thoroughly examined, and directions were issued to expedite investigations and maximize disposals within the stipulated periods. He also stressed investigative efficiency, accountability, mandatory use of FSL services, and strict adherence to legal deadlines, along with the uploading of success stories under the New Criminal Laws on the designated portal.

SSP Mehta further directed supervisory officers and investigating officers (IOs) to maintain close surveillance over suspects, drug addicts, OGWs (Over-Ground Workers), troublemakers, miscreants, and rumor-mongers, and to take preventive measures to uphold law and order. He called for an intensified crackdown on drug peddlers, identification of their supply networks, and decisive action against major suppliers.

Operational officers were instructed to keep a strict vigil on the activities of Anti-National Elements (ANEs) operating in the higher reaches of Bhaderwah and adjoining areas. *SSP Mehta* directed that inputs be properly analyzed and acted upon promptly, with a focus on dismantling support networks of ANEs and generating actionable intelligence.

Concluding the meeting, *SSP Mehta* urged all officers to redouble efforts to reduce case pendency and meet the targets set by senior functionaries, reaffirming that the ultimate objective of Doda Police is to provide a safe, secure, and crime-free environment for the people of the Sub-Division as well as the District.

Massive Landslide at Baswal: One Dead, 2–3 Persons Injured

A massive landslide struck the Baswal area near Bagla Bharath on Today causing panic among local residents. According to initial reports, a vehicle bearing registration number JK06C-0825 (Blorea) was hit by the falling debris, leaving one person dead on the spot and two to three others injured.

Local sources said the incident occurred suddenly due to loose soil and recent weather conditions. The injured were shifted in an ECO vehicle to GMC Doda for treatment.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the information. Authorities have advised travelers to avoid the affected stretch until restoration work is completed. Further updates are awaited.

Public Advisory: Leopard Sighting in Doda

The Department of Wildlife Protection has received continuous reports regarding the sighting of a leopard in and around Doda town. All residents are requested to remain vigilant, especially during early morning and late evening hours.

Please avoid moving alone in isolated areas, ensure children and livestock remain indoors after dark especially dogs.The leopard usually attacks the prey smaller in size, like children, women , sitting persons.Do not attempt to chase or provoke the animal, whenever you sight the animal immediately inform the wildlife department control rooms and police.
