*Jammu (Rural) Police Tightens Noose on Drug Traffickers; Two Accused Arrested with Poppy Straw and He**in-Like Substance*

Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Rural Police Jammu achieved two significant successes under the jurisdiction of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli.
In the first incident, a police party of PP Manwal, while performing routine naka duty at Nadhal Naka, intercepted one container goods carrier Ashok Leyland bearing Registration No. PB10HP-4190 coming from Udhampur Dhar Road towards Battal.
During checking of the vehicle, approximately 3/4 kg of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from the cabin of the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Vicky S/o Ratan Singh R/o Ham Bowel, Nurpur Lubhana, Kapurthala, Punjab, failed to produce any valid explanation regarding the possession of the contraband.
Accordingly, FIR No. 77/2026 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Jhajjar Kotli and investigation has been taken up.
In another incident, the police party of PP Manwal during naka checking at Nadhal intercepted one Motorcycle bearing Registration No. JK14L-3298 (Hero Splendor) coming from Battal side towards Udhampur.
During checking, approximately 13/14 grams of he**in-like substance was recovered from the possession of the rider identified as Anwer Bhutt S/o Ghulam Mohd Bhutt R/o Sambal, Tehsil and District Udhampur.
The accused failed to give any satisfactory explanation regarding the possession of the contraband substance. In this regard, FIR No. 78/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation is underway.
Jammu (Rural) Police remains committed towards eradicating the menace of drugs and urges the general public to cooperate with police by sharing any information related to drug peddling or narcotics smuggling.
