NOTORIOUS DRUG PEDDLER RUPINDER SINGH AKA WINKLE @ Lovie ARRESTED ALONG WITH ANOTHER PEDDLER BY POLICE STATION BAKSHI NAGAR

In a sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Police Station Bakshi Nagar achieved a major success by arresting notorious drug peddler Rupinder Singh along with another associate and recovering heroin-like contraband substance from their possession.

On 17.06.2026, a police naka was established near Pawan Ice Cream, Bakshi Nagar, under the supervision of PSI Keshav Dev Singh Jamwal. During naka checking, an Auto E-Rickshaw bearing registration No. JK02DH-1697, coming from Bakshi Nagar towards Pawan Ice Cream, was intercepted for routine checking.

During checking, the occupants of the vehicle exhibited suspicious behaviour, prompting the naka party to conduct their personal search in accordance with legal procedures. The individuals were identified as:

1. Rupinder Singh @ Winkle S/o Late Sardar Pritpal Singh R/o Shopping Centre, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu, a notorious drug peddler of the area.
2. Sanjeev Sharma S/o Late Sh. Ishwar Lal Sharma R/o Sarwal, Jammu.

Upon search, approximately 7.9 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) was recovered from the possession of Rupinder Singh, while approximately 2.3 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) was recovered from the possession of Sanjeev Sharma.

The recovered contraband was seized on the spot and both accused persons were arrested. Consequently, FIR No. 75/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/25/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and investigation has been set into motion.

The investigation of the case has been entrusted to PSI Syed Amir Masood, who is conducting further investigation to ascertain the source of the contraband and to unearth the forward and backward linkages of the narcotics network.

The recovery and arrests form part of the sustained anti-narcotics campaign being carried out by Police Station Bakshi Nagar to curb the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in the area.

Police Station Bakshi Nagar remains committed to taking stringent action against drug peddlers and appeals to the general public to cooperate with the police by sharing any information related to narcotics activities so that timely action can be taken against offenders.

JAMMU, JUNE : Chief Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL Jammu has informed that the power supply to Army Installations, Dairy Farm, Sansoo, Mansar, Garhi, Battal Ballian, PTC, ITBP, Pathi, Pancheri, Moungri and adjoining areas will remain affected on June 17 from 8 am to 3 pm.

Similarly, the power supply to Toph Sherkhania, Poonch House, Kabir Colony, Patel Nagar, PHE and adjoining areas will remain affected on June 17 from 7 am to 11 am.

Likewise, the power supply to Pochhal, Cherhar, Huller/Pohi, Workshop/DC Office, DIC and adjoining areas will remain affected on June 18 from 9 am to 5 pm.

Meanwhile, the Superintending Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL O&M Circle Kathua has informed that the power supply to Vijaypur Industry and its adjoining areas will remain affected on June 17 from 6 am to 12 noon.

Similarly, the power supply to Old Vijaypur, Vijaypur Industry and its adjoining areas will remain affected on June 20 from 7 am to 12 noon.

Likewise, the power supply to Balote, Navodya and its adjoining areas will remain affected on June 17 and 19 from 7 am to 12 noon.

Similarly, the power supply to Meen, Smailpur-2, Khidiya Dera and its adjoining areas will remain affected on June 17 from 6 am to 12 noon.

Likewise, the power supply to BB Town and its adjoining areas will remain affected on June 18 and 19 from 6 am to 11 am.
