VIJAYPUR: Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has strongly condemns the unfortunate and shocking incident of sacrilege of the holy Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Gurudwara Sahib, Koulpur in Vijaypur.
This act of desecration has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community and all peace-loving citizens.
In a statement, he cited news reports that the miscreant involved in this heinous act has been arrested. However, this incident cannot be viewed as an isolated act.
A thorough and impartial investigation must be conducted to identify the forces or individuals behind this shameful act, he demanded.
S. Manjit Singh urged the Government and law enforcement authorities to take the strictest possible action under the law and to invoke the National Security Act (NSA) against the accused so that such incidents are never repeated.
He further stated that the sanctity of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is supreme for Sikhs worldwide, and any attempt to disturb communal harmony must be dealt with firmly and swiftly.
He appealed to the community to maintain peace and unity while ensuring that justice is delivered at the earliest.
“The act seems to be a plan that has the ability to sow a seed of discontent between the communities, and promote hatred against each other in the society,” S. Manjit Singh, said in a statement, while demanding a high-level probe in the incident.
Therefore, the authorities shall constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident and ensure the arrest of all the culprits involved in the heinous crime.

NC - Congress Party Govt fails on all fronts in J&K: S. Manjit Singh

‘Jammu feels betrayed by BJP MLAs'

Says Apni Party to launch awareness campaign against Govt, BJP

JAMMU: - Apni Party’s Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has said that one-year of Governance by the National Conference with the support of Congress Party in Jammu and Kashmir has failed on all fronts.
“The NC – Congress Party had promised during election campaigns about electricity usage waiver on certain units, employment to the unemployed youth, development, and restoration to the statehood,” the Former Minister picked holes in the hollow assurances made by the ruling parties during their campaign in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections.
He was addressing a provincial level meeting of the Apni Party at Gandhi Nagar in Jammu.
The Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh chaired the meeting, and held a threadbare discussion on the emerging political issues, issue of the unemployed youth, and growing concerns about underdevelopment, and poor response to the damages caused by the recent flash-floods/heavy rains.
While discussing various issues, S. Manjit Singh said that the people have been left to the mercy of God even as an elected Govt has taken over charge from the LG Govt on civilian matters. However, all the issues remain unresolved.
“The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has adopted a tactic to divert attention of the people from the failure of his Govt towards the LG so that they save their face in public. But the people know that the NC failed to fulfil all the promises even as it is enjoying rule in J&K for the last one year,” he said, while challenging the NC to resign from the Govt if they really feel suffocated.
He said that the NC is enjoying the rule with support from BJP that is ruling the central Govt.
“Both NC and BJP are hands in glove to mislead the people. These parties have given free hands to the non-local contractors to extract minerals and indulge in illegal mining across J&K, while looting of minerals continues under the supervision of the present Govt, the local youth suffer at the hands of the police and mining department’s questionable actions. These mining mafia work under the protection of the concerned department, and police at various districts,” he added, pointing out the recent floods that has caused damage to the roads and bridges across Jammu plains from Samba to Kathua because of the illegal mining.
He demanded a high-level probe into the illegal mining that has damaged public property.
He also accused the Govt of misleading the unemployed youth as it failed to refer the vacant posts to the recruitment agencies, and on the other hand, the recruitment agencies have come under scanner.
Meanwhile, he asked the Party colleagues to intensify their public outreach program and educate people about the failure of the Govt.

Altaf Bukhari Says All Parties in J&K Maintain Working Ties with Central Government, Alleges PDP’s Political Understanding with BJP, Terms It a “Fixed Match”

Srinagar, Oct 4: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party President Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday said that every political party in Jammu and Kashmir, regardless of its public stance, maintains a working relationship with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He accused several parties of deceiving voters by promising to keep BJP away from power during elections while later collaborating with the same party.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Bukhari said, “Every political party in Jammu and Kashmir has a working relation with the central government. During elections, every party promises to keep BJP away from power but later on they work with the same party.”

The Apni Party chief cited the example of the 2014 elections, recalling how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Mehbooba M***i had vowed to prevent the BJP from entering power corridors but ended up forming a coalition government with it. “In 2014, Mehbooba M***i promised people that she will keep BJP at bay but later on the same party joined hands with BJP,” Bukhari remarked, adding that “PDP runs with the help of BJP. There is a fixed match between the two parties.”

Bukhari, whose party has often been viewed as maintaining pragmatic ties with the central leadership, said that political alliances in Jammu and Kashmir have historically revolved around convenience rather than conviction. “The people of J&K have been repeatedly misled by tall promises that are forgotten once the results are declared,” he observed.

Commenting on National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah’s repeated assertions that his party would not ally with the BJP under any circumstance, Bukhari said, “If Omar Abdullah claims that NC will not ally with BJP, that means he is morally correct because he came to power on the promise that he will keep BJP out of power.”

He added that politics in Jammu and Kashmir needs transparency and consistency, stressing that parties should stand by what they tell the people before elections. “Political credibility can only be restored when leaders uphold their word and avoid political opportunism,” he said.

When asked about the possibility of incarcerated legislator Mehraj Malik attending the upcoming Assembly session, Bukhari said the matter lies entirely within the court’s domain. “It’s up to the court whether it will allow incarcerated Mehraj Malik to attend the Assembly,”

Jammu, October 4, 2025: Apni Party District President Jammu Urban, Abhay Bakaya, has expressed serious concern over the non-restoration of the Sidhra to Panjtirthi road, which has been pending for the past two months. He stated that the delay in the commencement of restoration work has caused immense inconvenience to the residents and daily commuters who rely on this crucial road link.

Bakaya highlighted that the condition of the road has worsened, severely affecting school-going children and office-goers who are compelled to take alternative routes, traveling an additional 25 to 30 kilometers each day. He questioned the continued silence of the concerned authorities on this pressing issue and demanded immediate action to begin restoration work.

“The people are suffering due to administrative inaction. Despite repeated requests, no steps have been taken so far. It is unacceptable that such an important road remains neglected for months,” Bakaya said.

He urged the district administration and the relevant departments to prioritize the restoration of the Sidhra–Panjtirthi road to alleviate the hardships faced by the citizens and to ensure smooth connectivity for the residents of Jammu city.
