Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha Raises Objection to UGC Equity Regulations 2026 in Samba

📍 Samba: Members of the Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha held a meeting and press conference on Wednesday to voice their concerns over the UGC Equity Regulations 2026. Sabha District President Amardeep Singh welcomed the Supreme Court’s interim stay on the implementation of the regulations, stating that the organisation is not against any caste, category or community, but is only seeking equal, fair and just treatment for all students.

He said concerns and opposition are emerging among Rajputs and other members of the General Category regarding the provisions of the regulations. According to him, if any student commits a mistake, action should be taken under uniform rules and not on the basis of caste or social background. Whether a student belongs to the General Category, OBC, SC, ST or any other community, the same rules and penalties should apply. This, he said, is the essence of equality and social justice.

🗣️ Amardeep Singh said that Rajput and other communities have always worked for the welfare of society while keeping the interests and sentiments of all sections in mind. He further said that six BJP MLAs have already met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and opposed any reduction in reservation, but, according to him, other social representatives have not raised their voice adequately on the issue, which the Sabha does not accept.

Referring to observations made by the Supreme Court, he said there is a need for greater clarity in the language of the regulations. The Sabha urged the Centre and UGC to formulate a balanced and clear framework that protects the rights of all students and remains in accordance with the Constitution, equality and principles of justice.

The Sabha also appealed to representatives of all communities to make positive and constructive efforts for the genuine interests of their respective communities and ensure the rights of weaker and disadvantaged sections.

Amardeep Singh said the Sabha would continue its democratic struggle, within the framework of the Constitution and law, to safeguard its rights and the future of its children.

Former President Captain Inder Singh, Vinod Singh, Happu Singh and other members were also present.

Murderous Attack Case Cracked Within Hours! 👮‍♂️

Samba Police has cracked a serious attempt-to-murder case at Supwal within just 4 hours. A man was allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon (Darat), sustaining serious injuries to his head and arm.

⚡ Acting swiftly, Police Station Samba registered FIR No. 246/2026 under relevant sections of BNS & Arms Act.

🔎 A dedicated police team from Police Post Supwal launched an intensive search and, with technical assistance and sustained field efforts, arrested accused Manik Sharma within hours.

🗡️ The weapon of offence was also recovered.

Further investigation is underway.

Two Drug Suppliers Arrested in Ramgarh, Samba Police Uncovers Backward Link in Narcotics Case

Samba Police has arrested two alleged drug suppliers during the investigation of an NDPS case registered at Police Station Ramgarh. The accused have been identified as Mohd Aquil and Irfan Sadotra, both residents of Dhamor Jakh, Vijaypur, Samba. Their names surfaced during the backward-linkage investigation of a case in which Vinod Kumar of Ambaran, Akhnoor, was earlier arrested and contraband was recovered. Police said the investigation helped trace the supply chain and identify the persons allegedly involved in supplying drugs. Further investigation is underway to uncover other links connected with the narcotics network.
