CHC Sankoo’s Successful performs LSCS surgery

KARGIL:, in a significant achievement for the Union Territory’s Health Department, the Community Health Centre (CHC) Sankoo has once again demonstrated excellence in maternal healthcare by successfully conducting an elective Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS) surgery, bringing advanced health facilities closer to the people.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Nasreen Fatima (Gynaecologist & Obstetrician), supported by Dr. Ameena Khatoon (Anaesthetist) and Dr. Iftikhar Hussain (Consultant Paediatrician). The dedicated Operation Theatre team—including Altaf Hussain, Zaheer Abass, Ghulam Mehdi, and Zakir Hussain (Anaesthesia Assistant)—ensured the smooth conduct of the procedure.

Following the delivery, the newborn was declared healthy, and specialized training on newborn care was given to the nursing staff. The timely assistance by the Blood Storage Unit, under the supervision of Haji Ahmad Ali, further ensured patient safety.

Block Medical Officer Dr. Zahida Khatun expressed deep appreciation for the coordinated efforts, emphasizing that such successes underscore the Health Department’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services at the doorstep in remote regions.

Since becoming operational on 1st July 2022, the CHC Sankoo OT has played a crucial role in strengthening maternal and child health outcomes, reflecting the Union Territory’s ongoing advancement in healthcare delivery.
