CM Dares BJP to Remove Article 370 from Constitution Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday dared the BJP to remove Article 370 from the Constitution of India, asserting that the very next day the National Conference-led government would bring a resolution in the Legislative Assembly seeking its restoration.Replying to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the Lieutenant Governor’s address, Omar Abdullah said Article 370 continued to exist in the Constitution and remained the constitutional link between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country, despite being “hollowed out” by the Centre.
He rejected the Opposition’s criticism over not explicitly mentioning Article 370 in the Assembly resolution, saying there was no need to do so as it had not been removed from the Constitution. The Chief Minister reiterated the NC government’s commitment to restoring J&K’s special status with constitutional guarantees.
Omar Abdullah also addressed concerns over the LG’s address, stating that continuity of governance explained the absence of repetition, and added that several issues would be elaborated upon during the budget and grant discussions.
