ISBTI J&K Chapter Shines at National Golden Jubilee Conference, Brings Laurels to the Union Territory
Jammu, 22nd Sept – The Jammu & Kashmir Chapter of the Indian Society for Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology (ISBTI) made a powerful mark at the 50th Annual National Conference, TRANSCON 2025, held at Grand Hyatt, Gurugram, Haryana. The team was recognized with multiple prestigious awards, highlighting their exceptional contributions to the field of blood transfusion medicine.
The conference’s highlight was the conferment of the “Life Time Achievement Award” upon Dr. Meena Sidhu, Prof. & Head, Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion, Government Medical College, Jammu. The award was presented by Shri Nayab Singh Saini, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana. This esteemed honor recognizes Dr. Sidhu's over two decades of dedicated service, significant scientific work, teaching, and research in Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion Medicine. Dr. Sidhu holds key national and state-level positions, including Chairman of ISBTI J&K Chapter and National Member of the Technical Resource Group (TRG) on Blood Transfusion Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
Dr Irm recieved AN Kashyab award for her meritorious service in blood transfusion. Her dedicated services to the Govt Hospital Rajouri at the time of operation Sindhoor was highly appreciated .
In a proud moment for the chapter, Dr. Navneet Kaur, Social Reformer and Secretary General of ISBTI J&K Chapter, was honored with an Award of Excellence for Volunteer Donor Motivator. Her relentless services for Thalassemia children were also recognized. The award was presented by Padma Shri Awardee Dr. Italia.
Furthermore, the entire ISBTI J&K Chapter team received widespread appreciation for their impactful work under the Anemia Mukt Bharat initiative lead by Dr Navneet Kaur Secty Gen ISBTI J&K Chapter under the able leadership of Dr Meena Sidhu Chairperson ISBTI J&K . The team was appreciated for their exceptional contributions during 'Operation Sindhoor'. The team organized a series of blood donation camps to support patients in hospitals and Thalassemia children, demonstrating unwavering commitment to community health .
The delegation from the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion, GMC Jammu, was well-represented. It included Dr. Naveen Akhtar, Assistant Professor, Dr. Anshu Mahajan, Assistant Professor, and post-graduate students Dr Urvashi , Dr Lubna , Dr. Abida, Dr. Rajat, and Dr. Kamya. The PG students actively participated by presenting poster papers at the conference, showcasing the academic rigor of the department.
Expressing her gratitude, Dr. Meena Sidhu said, “This Lifetime Achievement Award is not just a personal honor, but a recognition of the collective efforts of our entire team in Jammu & Kashmir. We are committed to promoting voluntary blood donation, ensuring safe transfusion practices, and advancing research in the field. This award will further inspire us to serve with greater dedication.”
