کیرالا کے رہنے والے عبدالرحیم اپنے مالی مشکلات کا شکار خاندان کی مدد کے لیے روزگار کی تلاش میں سعودی عرب گئے تھے۔ وہاں انہیں ایک* سالہ سعودی لڑکےکے ڈرائیور اور دیکھ بھال کرنے والے (کیئر ٹیکر) کی نوکری ملی۔ یہ لڑکا سانس لینے کے لیے ایک خاص مشین پر منحصر تھا۔

سال **2006** میں ایک سفر کے دوران مبینہ طور پر اس لڑکے کی سانس لینے والی مشین اچانک الگ ہو گئی، جس کی وجہ سے اس کی موت ہو گئی۔ عبدالرحیم کا کہنا تھا کہ یہ ایک **حادثہ** تھا، لیکن سعودی حکام نے انہیں گرفتار کر لیا اور بعد میں **سزائے موت** سنا دی۔ کئی اپیلوں کے باوجود یہ سزا برقرار رہی۔

کئی سال کی قانونی کوششوں کے بعد، **2024 میں مقتول کے خاندان نے تقریباً 34 کروڑ روپے بطور دیت (Blood Money)** وصول کرنے کے بعد عبدالرحیم کو معاف کر دیا۔ یہ رقم دنیا بھر کے کیرالا کے لوگوں نے چندہ جمع کرکے فراہم کی تھی۔

اگرچہ **سزائے موت ختم کر دی گئی**، لیکن عبدالرحیم کو اپنی باقی قید مکمل کرنی پڑی۔ تقریباً **20 سال سعودی جیل میں گزارنے کے بعد** وہ آخرکار کیرالا واپس پہنچے، جہاں ان کی اپنی والدہ اور خاندان سے جذباتی ملاقات نے لاکھوں لوگوں کو متاثر کیا۔

*Man dies, seven hospitalised after suspected food poisoning from wild vegetable in J-K’s Rajouri*

Rajouri, (TRT) May 16: A case of severe food poisoning involving members of two families has come to light in the Kotranka subdivision of Rajouri district, where an elderly man has died while seven others have been hospitalised at Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri.

Food poisoning caused by a wild vegetable is suspected to be the reason behind the incident, and authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.

According to reports, the two families from Mohra village in Kotranka consumed a wild vegetable on Friday afternoon. By late evening, eight members of the families complained of symptoms of food poisoning, following which they were shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) Kandi and later referred to the GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri.

A 60-year-old man, identified as Mohammad Hussain, died during treatment, while seven other persons, mostly children, are undergoing treatment at the hospital.–(TRT)

under the supervision of DC Rajouri another batch of Census training for Supervisors and Enumerators commenced at BHSS Rajouri under the supervision of the Census Incharge, Tehsil Rajouri. The training programme witnessed active participation from officials associated with the upcoming census exercise.

During the session, the trainees were elaborately briefed about various aspects of the census process, including data collection procedures, household surveys, accuracy in documentation, and responsibilities of enumerators and supervisors. The participants showed keen interest and actively interacted during the training programme.

The trainers emphasized the importance of conducting a transparent, fair, and error-free census to ensure reliable population data for administrative planning and development purposes. The trainees assured that they would perform their duties with dedication and sincerity to make the census exercise successful.

Speaking on the occasion, the Tehsildar Rajouri assured full cooperation and stressed the need for a smooth, accurate, and effective census operation in the tehsil. He urged all officials to work with honesty and commitment so that authentic data could be compiled for the welfare and development of the region.

*Govt Teacher Held With Heroin-Like Substance in Kulgam’s DH Pora: Police*

Kulgam, May 14: The Police in DH Pora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district apprehended a government teacher during naka checking at Waripora village and recovered a heroin-like substance from his possession, officials said on Thursday.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Arsheed Ahmad Lone, son of Wali Mohammad Lone, a resident of Waripora DH Pora. He is presently posted as a teacher at Government Middle School Waripora.

Police said the accused was intercepted along with his vehicle bearing registration number JK18D-8772 (i10 Nios) during routine checking by a police party from Police Station DH Pora.

During the search operation, a heroin-like substance was allegedly recovered from his possession. However, the exact quantity of the recovered substance is yet to be ascertained.

In this regard, FIR No. 44/2026 under sections 8/21 and 25 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station DH Pora, and further investigation has been taken up.
