Social Activist Ab Qayoom Sheikh along with several residents of Payerpora Hyhama, area of Kupwara District held a peaceful protest against the Health Department and Health Minister of J&K over the decade-long delay in making the local Health Centre functional.

The protestors said the centre, constructed nearly ten years ago with complete infrastructure, remains locked and unused forcing villagers to travel long distances for basic medical care. They urged the Lieutenant Governor’s administration and Health Minister to intervene and ensure the immediate inauguration and operation of the Health Centre to provide long-awaited healthcare services to the local population.

Residents of Malik Mohalla Hirri Qadirabad have alleged that the macadamisation work on the road leading from Ziyarat Shareef via Malik Mohalla to Govt Higher Secondary School Hirri Qadirabad has been diverted to another link road in Qadirabad.

However, when contacted officials from the concerned department termed the allegations baseless, stating that the road’s width—approximately 7.5 feet—currently restricts vehicle movement. They added that necessary measures are being taken to address the issue and the macadamisation work will be carried out on the said road accordingly.
