Today, the Uttar Behni Development Committee was formed, with Mr. Raj Kumar unanimously elected as its President, along with ten other Executive Members.

The committee was formed in the presence of Shri Sodagar Gupta, District President, Samba (JKNC); Shri Jagdish Singh Slathia, former Sarpanch, Uttar Behni; Shri Prem Singh, Block President; Pandit Kailash Sharma, Block Secretary, and others.

The committee expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah Sahib for his initiative to sanction ₹6.86 crore for the renovation and development of all temples in Uttar Behni, and ₹7.25 crore for the renovation and development of all temples in Purmandal.

*SAMBA POLICE FIGHT AGAINST DRUGS CONTINUE, TWO DRUG PEDDLERS ARRESTED WITH 08 GRAMS OF HEROIN-LIKE SUBSTANCE*

Samba: August 21, 2026: Intensifying its drive against the drug peddlers and smugglers, Samba Police has achieved significant breakthrough by arresting two drug peddlers and recovering approximately 08 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession within the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.

A team of Police Station Vijaypur while conducting routine checking at AIIMS naka Vijaypur, intercepted a passenger vehicle (Martui Suzuki Ertiga) bearing registration No. JK03P-3341 which was coming from Rakh Barotian side and moving towards Vijaypur. During vehicle checking and search, approximately 08 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) were recovered from the dashboard of the said vehicle.

The drug peddlers identified as Amir Gulzar Ganie S/o Gulzar Ahmad Ganie R/o Muqdoom Pora Chee district Anantnag and Mohd Zahid S/o Abdul Gafoor R/o Maralian Miran Sahib near Dak Banglow district Jammu have been arrested and the contraband item alongwith the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

A case FIR No.145/2026 U/S 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started to ascertain the forward and backward linkages of the narcotics network.

SSP Samba appealed to the general public to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police by sharing any information related to drug trafficking or drug peddling. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential and every credible input will be acted upon promptly.

SAMBA POLICE ARRESTED 02 DRUG PEDDLERS WITH 8.69 GRAMS OF HEROIN-LIKE SUBSTANCE

Samba: August 19, 2026: Continuing its crackdown against the drug peddlers and smugglers, Samba Police has arrested two drug peddlers and recovered approximately 8.69 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession within the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.

A team of Police Station Vijaypur while conducting routine checking at AIIMS naka Vijaypur, intercepted two pedestrians who were coming from Samba side and moving towards Vijaypur under suspicious circumstances. During frisking, approximately 8.69 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) were recovered from their possession.

The drug peddlers identified as Syed Behran Aftab S/o Syed Anwar Ahmed Aftab R/o H. No. 31 Astan Bala district Kishtwar and Ishtiyaq Ahmed S/o Nazir Ahmed R/o Karal Pora Dool district Kishtwar have been arrested and the contraband item has also been seized.

A case FIR No.144/2026 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started to ascertain the forward and backward linkages of the narcotics network.
