Shaheed Vihaan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 Kicks Off in Poonch

In Loving Memory of Shaheed Vihaan Bhargav

Poonch, July 8, 2025 – The Shaheed Vihaan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 commenced today at the Sports Stadium, Poonch, with a grand opening ceremony dedicated to honoring the supreme sacrifice of Shaheed Vihaan Bhargav. The tournament aims not only to celebrate cricket but also to promote a strong social message: “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Sports.”

Inaugural Ceremony Highlights:

The opening ceremony was graced by DySP HQ Neeraj Sharma as the Chief Guest, accompanied by Mushtaq Ahmed (Incharge Manager, Sports Stadium Poonch), Surjin Singh, and Pawan Kumar as Guests of Honour.

The tournament is organized by Mr. Sadaqat Meer in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K Sports Council, and the youth of Poonch.

Mr. Pervaiz Ahmed (NIS Cricket Coach, REK) served as the Overall Technical Incharge and hosted the event. He is supported by a dedicated team including Henan Ahmed, Rajneesh Maini, Pervaiz Ahmed PET, Mumtaz Ahmed, Mohd Shafiq, Jaskaran Singh, Utkarsh Bhargav, Waheed Jaffer, and others. Ram Prakash Sharma is the Ground Incharge, while Syed Zakir Hussain is the Head Assistant.

Chief Guest DySP Neeraj Sharma, in his address, said:

> “This tournament is a great tribute to Shaheed Vihaan Bhargav. Sports play a vital role in shaping the future of youth. I urge everyone to join sports and say no to drugs.”

All dignitaries were honored with traditional shawls as a mark of respect and gratitude.

Opening Match Result: Aadi Club Dungas vs Super 11

The tournament's opening match saw an impressive performance by Aadi Club Dungas, who set a target of 129 runs while batting first. Abhi Sharma led from the front, scoring a brilliant 70 runs off just 40 balls, laying a strong foundation for his team.

In response, Super 11 struggled against tight bowling and were bowled out for 102 runs, falling short by 27 runs.

🏆 Man of the Match: Abhi Sharma for his outstanding innings.

Aadi Club Dungas won the opening match by 27 runs, kicking off the tournament on a high note.

*Taekwondo Training Centre Kicks Off at Poonch Sports Stadium*

*Poonch, J&K – July 2, 2025*
In a significant boost to martial arts and youth engagement in the region, the J&K Sports Council, in collaboration with the J&K Taekwondo Association, proudly inaugurated the Taekwondo Training Centre at Poonch Sports Stadium today.

The centre aims to nurture emerging talent and promote the Olympic sport of Taekwondo among the youth of the district. Leading the centre are *Mr. Ashiq Hussain and Ms. Khalida Jabeen (National Medalist),* both experienced and approved coaches under the J&K Taekwondo Association.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by several esteemed guests, with *Mr. Mohd Syed (ACR Poonch) attending as the Chief Guest*. The event also witnessed the presence of:

Speaking at the occasion, *Mr. Shakeel Ahmed, the Founder of Taekwondo in Poonch*, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the J&K Sports Council, especially its Secretary Ms. Nuzhat Gul, for her continuous support and encouragement in promoting Taekwondo in the district.

The President of the J&K Taekwondo Association also conveyed thanks to Mrs. Gul, applauding her instrumental role in uplifting the standard of Taekwondo across J&K.

This initiative is not just a celebration of Poonch’s strong sporting culture—highlighted by athletes like Shoaib Khan, Nabeel Khan, and Khalida Jabeen—but also a strategic step toward empowering youth and creating future champions.

The J&K Taekwondo Association, with continued support from the J&K Sports Council, is committed to launching free Taekwondo training classes across every district of the UT to broaden access and foster sporting excellence.
