Joint Director Tourism Flags Off Jammu Walkathon in Support of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Drug Free India Campaign
Jammu, May 24, 2026:
A grand Jammu Walkathon in support of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Drug Free India Campaign was successfully organised on Sunday by KIRF - J&K, in collaboration with Jammu Tourism, at Maharaja Hari Singh Park. The event was supported by the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association as part of the National 100 Days Drug Free India Campaign.
The walkathon witnessed an overwhelming response, with scores of people from different walks of life assembling early in the morning to participate and show solidarity with the mission of building a drug-free society. Prominent runners, sportspersons, and fitness enthusiasts from across Jammu actively took part in the awareness drive.
Sh. Aijaz Qaisar, Joint Director Tourism, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Ms. Anissa Nabi, JKAS Deputy Director Urban Local bodies was the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest encouraged youth to adopt sports and healthy pursuits as effective means to stay away from substance abuse and lead disciplined, purposeful lives. He lauded the organisers for their sustained efforts in spreading awareness against the growing menace of drug addiction.
Ms. Anissa Nabi highlighted the harmful physical, mental, and social impacts of drug abuse and underscored the importance of community participation, awareness, and youth engagement in ensuring the success of the campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Imran Khan, Chairperson, KIRF–J&K, expressed gratitude to all participants, guests, and supporting organisations for making the event a success. He reaffirmed that more such awareness programmes and fitness initiatives are planned in the coming months, with a special focus on educating youth and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.
The event concluded with the distribution of mementos to the sponsors, leaving behind a strong message of unity, fitness, and collective responsibility towards building a Drug Free Jammu & Kashmir and a Drug Free India.
