REASI POLICE NABS TWO DRUG PEDDLERS; 7.51 GRAMS OF HE**IN (CHITTA) RECOVERED
Reasi, September 04, 2026: Continuing its relentless crackdown against the drug menace, District Police Reasi achieved significant success by apprehending two alleged drug peddlers and recovering 7.51 grams of he**in (Chitta) during naka checking at Balini, Katra.
On September 03, 2026, a police party deployed at the naka intercepted two persons approaching the checkpoint on foot. During their personal search, he**in (Chitta) concealed in their trouser pockets was recovered.
The accused have been identified as:
тАв Vishal Sharma, S/o Romesh Chander, resident of Bilaspur, Tehsil Majalta, District Udhampur. A total of 3.11 grams of he**in (Chitta) was recovered from the left pocket of his jeans.
тАв Rinku Sharma, S/o Bodh Raj, resident of Gharian Dhana, Tehsil Chenani, District Udhampur. A total of 4.40 grams of he**in (Chitta), concealed in a polythene pouch, was recovered from the left pocket of his trousers.
Both accused failed to produce any valid explanation for possessing the recovered contraband.
Consequently, a prima facie offence under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was established.
Accordingly, FIR No. 281/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra.
Investigation is in progress to ascertain the source, supply chain and forward/Backward linkages of the recovered narcotic substance.
District Police Reasi remains steadfast in its commitment to eliminating the drug menace from society and is pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
