Poonch, February 16 : Dr. Rubia Bukhari, lecturer in the Department of Sericulture at Poonch Campus, University of Jammu, has brought honor to the University of Jammu by showcasing her remarkable Cocoon Artistry at the recently concluded International Conference of the “Essential Oil Association of India” in Chennai.

Dr. Bukhari's innovative Cocoon Artistry initiative has not only captivated the audience but has also been hailed as a significant contribution to the field. Her expertise in sericulture has propelled her work to the forefront, turning heads at the prestigious international event.

Multiple activities held across the district Doda today as a part of the celebration of World Red Cross Day 2023. Blood donation camps, free Medical/ Consultation camps, Awareness programmes in the health and educational institutions, Rallies, free eye screening camps and other activities marked the day. The theme of this year World Red Cross Day is “Everything we do comes .

The main event was held at District Headquarter in the Govt. Higher Secondary School (Boys) Doda to highlight the importance and activities of District Red Cross Society Doda and role of Red Cross organisation throughout the world in serving humanity. The day is also observed to pay tribute to Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross Society. District Red Cross Society Doda organized a debate and painting competition, symposium, and speeches on the World Red Cross Day in the GHSS Boys Doda. Chairman District Red Cross Society Doda (DC Doda) Vishesh Mahajan inaugurated the programme at GHSS Boys Doda.

Vishesh Mahajan, also inaugurated blood donation camps at Associated Hospital GMC Doda and Sub District hospital Bhaderwah, besides, free testing and consultation on Breast Cancer at SDH Bhaderwah. The free medical/ consultation camp on breast cancer at Sub district hospital Bhaderwah was organised by the American Oncology Institute in association with World Cancer Care for the early diagnosis of breast cancer and its proper care and treatment. This camp at SDH Bhaderwah was also attended by ADC Bhadrrwah Ch Dil Mir, Additional SSP Bhaderwah Kameshwer Puri, CMO Doda Dr Hamid Zargar, BDC Chairpersons, DDC Councillors and others.
A free Eye screening camp was also held at Associated Hospital GMC Doda on the day.

Earlier, DC Doda, other officers and participants participated and took red cross pledge at GHSS Boys Doda. He also flagged off a rally of students on the Red Cross Day, which passed throughout the town and finally culminated at Boys HSS Doda.
Highlighting the importance of World Red Cross Day, Sh Mahajan urged upon the youngsters to volunteer for humane cause and develop in them the principles of universality, impartiality, love, care, and sympathy. He himself donated the blood along with ACR Doda Sanjeev Kumar, Police, and para military personnel at blood bank of Associated Hospital GMC Doda.
DC doda called upon the youth to donate blood for a good cause and asked them to participate in the blood donation camps that shall be organised regularly.
