*Kulgam Police Intensifies Crackdown on Narcotics Network; Illegal Structure of Drug Peddler on state land Demolished in Sopat, Devsar*

In continuation of its sustained and uncompromising campaign against drug trafficking and the narcotics ecosystem, Kulgam police has taken another decisive action against a drug peddler involved in case FIR No. 93/2025 U/S 8/20-29 NDPS act at police station Devsar.

During a joint anti-encroachment drive conducted at Sopat, Devsar; Kulgam Police along with Revenue Department demolished illegal commercial structure belonging to drug peddler, namely Showket Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Rasool Wani resident of Sopat Devsar.

The action was taken after it was established that the said structure had been illegally constructed by encroaching upon state land.

This action forms part of Kulgam Police’s broader strategy to dismantle the narcotics ecosystem by targeting not only drug peddlers but also the illegal assets and infrastructure created through criminal activities.

Kulgam Police reiterates its firm commitment towards making the district drug-free and warns all those involved in narcotics trafficking or supporting such activities that strict legal action will continue against them.

District Administration Kulgam, under the supervision of Tehsildar Frisal and with the support of Kulgam Yaripora Police, today demolished three shops belonging to an Accused booked under notorious NDPS Act at chinigam Frisal. Accused Namely Jahinger Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Ismail Bhat, resident of Chenigam, involved in narcotic-related activities registered under FIR No. 9/14/2022.

Officials stated that the action was taken as part of the administration’s “Zero Tolerance” policy against drug trafficking and to dismantle the economic network supporting the narcotics trade. Authorities reiterated their commitment to making Kulgam a drug-free district and appealed to the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious drug-related activities.
