S. Manjit Singh asks Govt to rehabilitate displaced 14 families

Saleem Alam demands special package for tribals of J&K

JAMMU: Apni Party has distributed relief material among the flash-flood hit people of Barmeen, who have lost their homes in a landslide following incessant rains in Jammu District where the poor people lost their homes in a landslide.
The Former Minister, and Provincial President of the Party, S. Manjit Singh was accompanied by ST Wing President / Vice President Jammu Province, Saleem Alam distributed the relief material among the heavy rain affected families in Barmeen.
These families had become homeless after their houses got buried under the debris of a landslide in Barmeen, during the heavy rains in recent days.
Expressing their sympathies, S.Manjit Singh and Salam Alam distributed relief material, utensils, and other essential items among the victims.
After hearing their grievances, the Former Minister expressed surprise as to why the administration did not provide a tent to the 12/14 families who have become homeless in Barmeen, and even in other areas in Jammu, Kathua, and Samba Districts.
He said that the administration should immediately release tents under Red Cross, ration, and other essential items for the homeless families, who have been rendered without shelter and provide them permanent shelter at an alternative safer place.
“The Govt shall step in and rehabilitate the displaced families to an alternative place on permanent basis, and also provide a financial compensation to them so that they can rebuild their future, and educate their children,” said the Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh.
“For how long, these displaced families could take shelter in Govt schools. Their permanent settlement shall be made by the Govt, and accordingly, a package shall be announced by the Central Govt for all the flood hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir,” he demanded.
Meanwhile, Saleem Alam also spoke on the occasion, and demanded that the tribal population is worst hit with the flash flood as they have lost their shelters, cattles/livestocks, and stocked ration in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the Govt shall consider a special package for the tribal population who have lost their livelihood due to the floods across J&K.
Besides them, Provincial President Youth Wing, Vishal Nariana, Social Media Incharge, Vaibhav Mattoo, Apni Party senior leader, Farooq Chauhan, and others, were also present at Barmeen to distribute relief among the landslide hit people.

S. Manjit Singh alongwith Apni Party leaders tours flashflood hit Purmandal Block, Utter Bani

More than 5 villages disconnected with Samba-Jammu as landslides block roads, damage to bridge in Utter Bani

Apni Party holds protest, urging intervention of LG J&K

PARMANDAL (SAMBA): Apni Party leaders led by its Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh on Saturday toured heavy rains, and flash flood affected areas of Parmandal Block in Samba District which have become almost disconnect with rest of Samba or Jammu Districts.
During his visit to Katwalta (Mandal) Panchayat, and Anandpur (Uttarbani) Panchayat, the Former Minister met a number of flash flood affected people.
He said that it was tragic to know that five villages namely Queli, Karnala, Balade, Gheri, and Gujjar Basti were completely cut-off from the rest of the district due to landslides that had blocked roads for the last seven to eight days.
He said that the people have complaints that more than 60 acres of land has been washed away in the flash flood in river Devak in Bada Kheter (Utter Bani) whereas one fishpond, several wells, and other water sources have also disappeared with the washing away of the huge chunk of the agricultural land.
He said that the Govt shall send a committee of experts to the flood affected villages and assess the losses, and accordingly, the poor people shall be provided funding as per the market value.
He demanded that all the closed roads be reopened to restore the road connectivity.
He remembers that a bridge in Utter Bani had suffered some damages in 2011. Though the bridge was closed for movement of heavy motor vehicles, following damages, the authorities allowed Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs). However, after recent flash floods, the bridge has suffered further damages, and hence, it has not been closed completely, which prompted Apni Party leaders led by S. Manjit Singh to hold a protest demonstration seeking its immediate repair work.
“The road connectivity to various villages, Kund and Duen villages in Parmandal Block are completely cut-off. The authorities are in deep slumber, and strangely, no one has brought the matter before the public,” said Manjit Singh, demanding reopening of the bridge after immediate repair, and opening of the blocked roads, following landslides in five villages.
“The bridge developed problems in the last 15 years, but the concerned authorities did not initiate any kind of repair work or rebuild the portions that required attention. Utter Bani is a religious place, and it should have been restored on priority. However, the authorities have acted opposite,” he said.
He threatened that if the authorities did not respond to the public issues, the Apni Party would be forced to come on the roads, and hold protests against the injustice that is being faced by the people.
He also appealed to LG Manoj Sinha for his intervention since the people of Parmanal Block are worst affected, and no one has responded to their suffering.
Prominent who visited Parmandal include Provincial Spokesperson Sahil Bharti, Provincial Youth Wing President Vishal Narania, Social Media Incharge Jammu Province Vaibhav Mattoo, Senior leader Farooq Chouhan, Block President, Manzoor Malik, Senior Leader, Sian Malik, Ex-Sarpanch Jagdish Singh Salathia, Chaman Lal, Babu Ram, and others.

Ex-Minister S. Manjit Singh pays homage to two martyred farmers of 1991 in Vijaypur

VIJAYPUR: - Apni Party, Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has demanded a comprehensive package for the farmers, and waiver over the KCC loans availed by the farmers in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh was addressing a gathering at the memorial of the two farmers namely Sardar Puran Singh, and Ramesh Lal, who were killed in police firing during an agitation in 1991.
While paying homage to the martyred farmers, S. Manjit Singh remembered their sacrifice for the rights of the farmers in 1991, who put up a fight for the demands of farmers.
He however expressed concern over the plight of the farmers whose demands still remain unfulfilled, and nothing has changed in all these years for them in Vijaypur, and all the parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the farmer demand include MSP, loan waiver over KCC loans, subside on all the type of seeds, advanced training for the farmers, compensation at the market value rates to the farmers who lose their standing crops in accidental fire/natural disaster or wind storms, advanced machines on subsided rates should be made available, and modern seeding technology to boost the agricultural activities that would generate employment in the village level, and membership to the farmers in Govt’s policy making committees.
He hoped that the Govt would consider the long standing demands of the farmers, who are the backbone of the rural economy, and the agricultural sector should be strengthened by the Govt by arranging tours of the farmers in foreign countries.
Meanwhile, Apni Party leader, Adv Sahil Bharti also addressed the gathering and appealed the Govt to access the losses suffered by the farmers in these incessant rainy season.
He demanded that the Govt shall give adequate compensation to the victims of flash flood fury and rainfall, farmers who lost their standing crops damaged, and fertile land which has become barren after it was filled with sand.
Adv Bharti also demanded re-construction of the damaged bandh in Ramgarh that has suffered segnificent damages.
On this occasion, family members of the martyred farmers, members of civil society, villagers, and others were also present.

Express shock over non-responsive approach of Administration towards affected families

Asks JMC to deploy men & machines to remove mud / sand from flood hit areas

JAMMU/RAMGARH: Apni Party leaders led by its Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh today visited the flood hit areas in Jammu’s Gujjar Nagar, Jogi Gate Cremation Ground, and Ramgarh in Samba where he met the affected families, assuring them all possible support.
The Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh was accompanied by Provincial Secretary Ajaz Kazmi, Senior leader Bodh Raj Bhagat, Social Media Incharge Jammu, Province, Vaibhav Mattoo, Provincial Joint Secretary Mohd Asif and others when they visited the flood hit Gujjar Nagar residents in Jammu.
During their visit, the Apni Party leaders met the affected families, and reviewed the ground situation, while expressing their support to them.
They however, expressed concern over why none of the administrative officials visited the affected families in Gujjar Nagar, and adjoining areas in Jammu City which are hardly few meters away from the District Administration Office Jammu.
He said that the non-responsive approach of the people towards the flood-hit areas in Jammu should have provided immediate relief for the damages they have suffered because of the flooded river, and nallah.
“The authorities should give Rs 20 lakhs to the completely damaged houses, and 10 lakhs for those who lost their houses partially. The people have told us about the loss of valuable cattles, livestocks, and what not during the flooded Tawi River,” he said.
He appealed to the authorities to constitute a committee, and immediately grant them compensation as early as possible.
“The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has also not provided labourers and machines to clear mud from the houses, lanes, and drains. Life shall return to normalcy, and the people need help from the authorities,” he said.
He also visited the Jogi Gate Cremation Ground near Prem Nagar, and met the management committee members, who complained that they cannot perform last rites of the deceased people, as the mud / sand has been filled in the area.
“Professional people are required to clear the Cremation Ground area from the mud / sand that has covered the entire complex badly, due to which the last rites of the deceased persons cannot be performed,” said, S. Manjit Singh, citing the concerns of the management committee of Jogi Gate Cremation Ground.
Meanwhile, the Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh, Adv Sahil Bharti and others visited Ramgarh, Rangroor, Koulpur, and other border villages where they met the farmers, who had lost their standing crops.
“The flood water has destroyed the fertile land as the bandh was breached at several places. The farmers have lost their agricultural land as well as the standing paddy crop,” he said, after meeting a number of farmers in Ramgarh.
He said that the Govt should grant them compensation for the loss of their agricultural land as the fields are filled with the sand/mud that came with the flood water.
Although the flood water has receded, the farmers have lost their paddy crops in the natural disaster, he said.
He demanded that the Govt should announce a special package for the farmers of Jammu, Samba, and Jammu.
He said that the Govt should re-construct concrete bandhs at vulnerable / breached locations in Ramgarh, and other places.

Damaged roads, bridges & JE (Electrical) paper leak exposes false narrative of NC Govt, says S. Manjit Singh

Prominent businessmen joins Apni Party at Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has been exposed for its false narrative of development in the ongoing monsoon season as roads, and bridges have started crumbling within two days of rainfall, said Former Minister, and Provincial President Jammu, Apni Party.
Addressing a joining program here at the Apni Party Office, Gandhi Nagar; the Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh said that the NC Govt had made slogans of development, and employment to the youth.
On both the fronts, he said, the Govt has been exposed before the people. The recruitment for the vacant posts by the recruitment agency J&K SSB have once again come under scanner as people question how the Govt plays with the future of the unemployed youth who appeared in the JE (Electrical) last Sunday.
On the developmental front, he said that the NC as well as its alliance Congress Party have been exposed.
“The condition of roads, and bridges are in bad condition in the ongoing monsoon season. The bridge in Kathua collapsed, and the alternative bridge has also been closed for vehicular traffic. Thousands of commuters, especially trucks carrying essential commodities for Kashmir are stranded on the other side of Kathua and they cannot move to this side. Hence, the essential and construction material shortage is going to happen in Kashmir as well as in Jammu, if no serious step is taken immediately by the Govt,” he said.
He questioned the incompetence of the Govt for not holding the administration accountable for their failure to address the developmental and water logging issues timely.
“The low lying areas in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua were almost submerged exposing the claims of projects like Smart City,” he said, questioning how the Govt funds were utilized in an unplanned manner across Jammu by putting hoardings, and street lights.
He said that the Govt still has time to constitute a task to assess the damages, and prepare contingency plans for the heavy rain hit areas for timely rescue and relief operations.
He said that the bandhs in Kathua, Samba and some of the areas along Jammu Tawi are vulnerable, and the Govt has yet to take any step to construct a concrete wall or permanent protection work on the river sides to protect lives, and properties of the people.
He demanded that the Govt should seriously address the growing concerns of the people regarding water logging, flooding of the roads, reconstruction of the uprooted roads/bridges/lanes/ electricity poles etc.
He demanded that the people affected with the flash flood shall be compensated adequately after the assessment of the damage they suffered.
He also demanded a ban on the illegal mining alongside the bridges that has caused extensive damage to the protection work and bridges. Hence, these illegal activities have risked the lives of the people.
He said that the authorities should tighten the nose of the mining mafia, and act against them by initiating a legal action.
The Former Minister was addressing a joining program that was organised in the office premises of the Apni Party at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu by Provincial President, Youth Wing, Jammu, Vishal Narania.
Prominent businessmen including Surinder Sharma, Pawan Sharma, Shubam Mahajan, Kapil Singh, Davinder Sharma and others joined the Apni Party in presence of S. Manjit Singh.
While welcoming the new entrants into the Party folds, he hoped that their joining would strengthen the party at the grass root level.
He said that the people in large numbers are joining the Party because of its equitable developmental policy and addressing all the sections of society equally.
He asked the party leaders and the new entrants to strengthen the hands of the party.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion include Provincial Vice President Arun Kumar Chibber; Provincial Secretary / Incharge Trade Wing Ajaz Kazmi; District President Jammu Urban Abhay Bakaya , Social Media Incharge jammu Province Vaibhav Mattoo , Provincial President Youth Wing Vishal Narania; Senior Vice President District Jammu Urban, Neelam Gupta; Vice President District Jammu Urban, Joginder Singh; Secertry District Jammu Urban, Sheekha Bhardwaj; District President, Minority Wing, Jammu Urban, Dalbir Singh; senior leaders Apni Party i.e., Farooq Chouhan, Irshan Choudhary, Pankaj Gupta, Harmeet Singh, , Gourav, Anshu Koul, Surjit Kumar, A.S. Charak and others.

Hope government takeover of FAT schools is truly temporary, as assured by Education Minister: Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari

Srinagar, August 24: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Sunday expressed hope that Education Minister Sakina Itoo's assurance—that the government’s takeover of the Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT) schools is temporary—will prove true.

He wrote on his X handle: “One hopes that Education Minister Sakina Itoo's assurance— that the government has taken over the management of FAT schools only as a temporary measure—will be proven by action, not merely by words. The government must ensure that, even during this temporary period, the schools are overseen by qualified educationists and professionals rather than administrative authorities.”

He further said, “Furthermore, the government must ensure that the future of the students and the careers of the teaching and non-teaching staff of these schools are not compromised in any way.”

Urging the government not to politicise this issue, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari added, “The government (ruling party) must recognise that the issue of FAT schools is directly related to the future of thousands of students enrolled in them. Public sentiments are involved in this matter. Therefore, this issue cannot and should not be politicised for political gain or used as a means to settle political scores.”

S. Manjit Singh Appeals Govt to Enhance Compensation for Victims of Chishoti, Ghati - Kathua Cloudbursts

Demands accountability of NHAI officials for unplanned construction work on highway in Kathua, Samba, & Jammu

VIJAYPUR: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has appealed to the Govt to give respectable compensation to the victim families of Chishoti, and Kathua cloudburst, who have lost their loved ones in the devastating natural disaster.
The recent heavy rains wreaking havoc in Pir-Panjal, Chenab Valley, Jammu, Samba and Kathua was beyond imagination, especially the loss of life in Chishoti village in Kishtwar, and Kathua where seven innocent people were killed.
“The Govt should enhance the compensation upto Rs 20 lakhs for the next of kins of the deceased persons, and injured must also be provided Rs 5 lakhs,” he demanded, while criticising the NC Govt for sanctioning a very less amount as compensation for the victims.
He also demanded that the injured shall be provided specialized treatment free of cost, and effective measures shall be taken to deal with such a situation.
He referred to the Chishoti where devotees were allowed to come in large numbers despite the weather advisory.
“The tragedy could have been avoided if the authorities would have stopped the pilgrims till the improvement in the weather conditions. The infrastructure in Chishoti needs to be improved and a permanent bridge shall be constructed,” he demanded.
He also demanded that the victims of cloud burst in Ghati in Kathua shall also get equal compensation with adequate medical care.
“The poor people lost their homes, valuables, and lives. The situation shall be reviewed and the cloudburst hit victims shall be properly rehabilitated by the Govt,” he demanded.
Meanwhile, he pointed out the suffering of the people in Samba District, and Vijaypur where he pointed out the underdeveloped roads, and lanes that turned into ponds. Hence, threatened the two-wheelers and other commuters on these damaged roads.
In his address during the worker’s meeting in Vijaypur, S. Manjit Singh also expressed his concern over the damages to the infrastructure, and the private properties during the heavy rainfall.
He said that the Jammu-Pathankot Highway is in shabby condition in various areas starting from Kathua up to Bari Brahmana, Gangyal, and Diagana that has become a threat to the commuters.
He said that rains have further aggravated the situation as the ongoing work on the highway widening, and flyover construction is being executed in an unplanned manner.
“The curves are changed without prior notification to the commuters, and most of the curves on the highway are given without sign boards that often lead to road mishap,” he said.
He recalled how the big craters are created in the middle of the highway, and they are filled with the rain water.
“These deliberate negligent attitude of the administration, and the NHAI has been inviting trouble for the commuter’s lives,” he said.
Meanwhile, he demanded that the authorities should hold a ground assessment in all the villages, and towns in Samba District and Vijaypur constituency so that the heavy rain affected people can be given adequate compensation.
He said that the rains have caused mayhem in the river side villages in Samba District, and people had to be displaced because of it.
“The authorities should construct a pending concrete bandh on the Devak - Basantar River in Ramgarh to prevent agricultural fields from the flash flood. The bandh is at the verge of damage with frequent flash floods in the rivers,” he said, while citing an example of how the farmers lost their fertile land to the flash flood that filled the agricultural land with sand many times, thus, the land became barren.
