Keeping the planet green and ensuring protection and conservation of our precious natural resources is the collective responsibility of all of us not only to secure our future but also to save and secure the future of generations to come.Planet does not belong to us , instead we belong to the planet.Nature has nurtured humanity since time immemorial.we owe this to nature and it is our ethical , moral , social and fundamental duty to reciprocate it in the same manner and extend our judicious , rational and humanistic approach towards the planet.With over sixty percent of our lakes and water bodies been disappeared , flora and fauna been either endangered or extincted , habitates threatened , interfared and challanged and human life itself being taking a worst hit , it offers us a do-or-die situation and it is high time to take immediate steps not tomorrow , not someday but today itself.It is time to nurture the nature , conserve water , do away with single use plastic , promote sustainable developmental practices , let the habitates flourish , save forests , save our wetlands , conserve biodiversity and phaseout pollution and practices.We must establish that lost emotional connection with nature , as a child , as a farmer , as a fisherman and as a family.Government , institutions , environmentalists , social activists , all of us as citizens of the land and other stakeholders must develop the kind of convergence to work together in formulating and executing the environmental friendly policies in letter and spirit.Let's adopt healthy lifestyle , say no to pollution , save and conserve Water and Energy and say 'No' to single use plastic.Let's ponder over climate change , changing rainfall patterns , fluctuating temperatures and adopt sensible environmental practices for Green Environment.Let's be inspired by Nature , for CLIMATE CHANGE for our FUTURE.By acting locally and thinking globally , all of us will think and work together to make it happen.Let every one of us be the embassador for .Let us be the change.

World Environment Day Observed in Machill: ACR Kupwara Leads Plantation Drive and Reviews Developmental Activities

Kupwara, June 5: On the directions of Deputy commissioner Kupwara Shrikant Suse, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Kupwara, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad visited Machill Division and undertook a series of developmental and awareness activities aimed at promoting environmental conservation and reviewing ongoing administrative initiatives in the area.
As part of the observance, the ACR inaugurated and participated in a plantation drive at Tehsil Headquarters Machill, emphasizing the importance of afforestation and environmental protection. The initiative witnessed active participation from local officials, staff members, and community representatives.
An awareness programmes was also conducted at Higher Secondary School, Duddi, (HSS) Ring Bala and Army Goodwill School (AGS) Chontiwari. During the programmes, students and staff were sensitized about environmental conservation, sustainable practices, and the significance of collective efforts in preserving natural resources for future generations.
Later, the ACR chaired a review meeting at the Mini Secretariat, Machill, with officers from various departments of the Macchil division.The meeting focused on assessing the progress of ongoing developmental works, addressing public service delivery issues, and ensuring effective implementation of government schemes in the block.

As part of civic action and community outreach initiatives, a Health Awareness and Menstrual Hygiene Camp was conducted at Reyalla Village on 05 June 2026. The initiative was undertaken with the objective of addressing essential health concerns among adolescent girls and women while fostering trust, mutual respect, and positive engagement with the local population.
The camp was conducted in a structured and interactive manner with the participation of 55 beneficiaries, comprising 24 local women and 31 teenage girls/children.
Participants were encouraged to engage freely, ensuring a comfortable and supportive environment throughout the session.

Srinagar, June 5: In a vibrant celebration of World Environment Day, Angel's Cultural Academy, in collaboration with Shahr-e-Khaas Literary & Cultural Welfare Society (SKLCWS), The GEG Global Foundation, and New Career Convent School, organised an inspiring awareness programme at New Career Convent School, Fateh Kadal, Srinagar.

The event, gracefully hosted by Nareen Bilal, brought together students, educators, cultural activists, and eminent guests, including Saiyum Mazumdar, Rudrasish Batsav, Aditya Raj, Ishaq Hameed Bhat, and Rouf Malik, all united by a common message of environmental stewardship.

The programme featured a rich blend of cultural and educational activities aimed at promoting environmental consciousness among the younger generation. A soulful singing performance by Haris Nazir captivated the audience, while students of New Career Convent School impressed attendees with a thought-provoking drama skit and colorful traditional Rouff performances. Students from various schools also delivered impactful speeches, emphasizing the urgent need for environmental conservation and sustainable living practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tariq Ahmad Shera, Founder and President of Angel's Cultural Academy and SKLCWS, highlighted the growing environmental challenges facing society and urged students to become ambassadors of change. He stressed that protecting nature is a collective responsibility and encouraged everyone to contribute towards building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.

To acknowledge the efforts and participation of those involved, Dr. Tariq Ahmad Shera and Saiyum Mazumdar presented Certificates of Appreciation to participants and guests, applauding their commitment to spreading awareness about environmental protection.

The event concluded on a high note, leaving attendees inspired and reaffirming the importance of community engagement, environmental responsibility, and collective action in safeguarding the planet for future generations.

World Environment Day Observed in Karnah; Awareness Programme and Plantation Drive Held

Karnah, June 05: The Sub-Divisional Administration Karnah today observed World Environment Day with fervour and active public participation, reaffirming its commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.

An awareness programme was organised to sensitise the public, particularly the youth, about the importance of environmental protection, sustainable practices, and responsible stewardship of natural resources. Students from various educational institutions, members of civil society, and local residents participated enthusiastically in the event.

As part of the observance, a plantation drive was conducted at the Forest Department enclosure at Tar Behak, where saplings were planted by the participants as a symbolic gesture towards promoting a greener and healthier environment.

Speaking on the occasion, SDM Karnah, underscored the need for preserving ecological balance and urged citizens to actively contribute towards environmental sustainability.

Officers of the Forest Department also highlighted the significance of afforestation and biodiversity conservation.

A pledge was administered to all participants, reaffirming their commitment to environmental protection, pollution reduction, conservation of natural resources, and promotion of eco-friendly practices.

Among others, the Deputy Commander, 104 Infantry Brigade, Tehsildar Karnah, SHO Karnah, ZEO Karnah, Range officers of the Forest Department, officials of various line departments, students, and members of the public attended the programme.

The event concluded with a collective resolve to strengthen environmental awareness and work towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Karnah.

Chief Education Officer Kupwara, Manzoor Ahmad Najar, successfully concluded a four-day educational tour of the remote border zones of Tangdhar and Chamkote in Karnah Valley. During the visit, he inspected several far-flung schools, reviewed academic progress, assessed infrastructure needs, and interacted directly with students, teachers, parents, and local communities.

The visit marked a historic moment for some remote schools, including Forward Bejaldar, Jabdi, and Batlan, where locals stated that it was the first-ever visit by a Chief Education Officer. The CEO emphasized quality education, student welfare, improved learning outcomes, teacher accountability, and effective implementation of government schemes.
