*Directorate of Tourism Jammu Felicitates Winners of Bird Watching Photography Competition Held at Gharana Wetland*
Jammu, July 19, 2025:
The Directorate of Tourism, Jammu today organized a prize distribution ceremony at its Conference Hall, to felicitate the winners of the Bird Watching Photography Competition held in connection with the World Wetland Day celebrations.
The competition, conducted as part of the departmentβs efforts to raise awareness about the importance of wetlands and bird conservation, focused on capturing the rich avian diversity of the Gharana Wetland, a prominent ecological site in the Jammu region. The event aimed to promote environmental consciousness through creative expression and community engagement.
A total of 10 participants submitted their entries online, showcasing their talent and unique perspective on the regionβs birdlife. The submissions were reviewed by a panel of experts, and the top entries were selected based on creativity, composition and relevance to the theme.
The first prize was bagged by Mr. Chetan Attri for his outstanding entry, while Mr. Rajat Kumar was adjudged the second prize winner. The third prize was conferred upon Mr. Tushant Gupta.
The winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates as a token of appreciation for their contribution to raising awareness about wetland and bird conservation. The prizes were presented by Sh. Vikas Gupta (JKAS), Director Tourism, Jammu along with Sh. Aijaz Qaiser (JKAS), Joint Director Tourism, Jammu.
In addition to the photography competition, winners of the on-spot painting competition, which was also organized as part of the World Wetland Day celebrations, were felicitated during the event for their creative contributions.
Also present on the occasion were Ms. Savita Chouhan, Deputy Director Tourism, Jammu, Mr. Arif Lone, Assistant Director Tourism Jammu/NHW, Mr. Muzamil Hassan, Assistant Director Tourism, and Mr. Vishal Sadhotra, Assistant Director Tourism, along with officers and officials of the Tourism Department.
The Directorate of Tourism, Jammu continues to champion responsible tourism and environmental stewardship through inclusive and creative initiatives such as these competitions.
